George Alan O’Dowd, better known as Boy George was born on June 14, 1961 in Eltham, London. He’s a singer-songwriter and club DJ, last in Australia as part of 2007 Mardi Gras.
His smooth vocals and androgynous image with Culture Club made him a household name around the world. The band had hits throughout the 80s with “Do You Really Want to Hurt Me?”, “I’ll Tumble 4 Ya”, “Karma Chameleon”, “Miss Me Blind” and “It’s A Miracle”.
The group had disbanded by late 1986.
In 1992, George scored a hit with a version of the song “The Crying Game” (produced by the Pet Shop Boys), which was featured on the movie of the same name, and reached the top twenty of the Billboard Hot 100.
He’s now a well known DJ who performs internationally, and lives in London.
