While spectator numbers were down somewhat on previous years, not even the forecast late weather change and storms could keep spectators away from 17th annual Pride March, one of the biggest in the event's history.
The 17th annual Pride March is set to celebrate all the colours of Victoria’s queer community, expecting thousands of spectators and featuring a parade down St Kilda’s Fitzroy Street as well as culminating in a huge community party on the foreshore.
Wet weather gave way to a bright sunny day as nearly 100 of Melbourne’s gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans and queer community groups took to St. Kilda’s Fitzroy Street for the 2011 Pride March yesterday, led by Dykes On Bikes and the Motorcycle Tourers.
While the number of entries into the Bake Off were down this year, the creativity and taste certainly weren’t, helping secure big dollars during the auction. Pride also announced its plans for 2011.
