What Moira McLean doesn’t know about shopping isn’t worth knowing. Twelve years as the queen of home shopping on Bert Newton’s Good Morning Australia and her current work on TVSN make this woman an absolute pro.
Moira’s the newest addition to the Same Same family and quite frankly, we think she’s got ‘gay icon’ written all over her. She’s an avid supporter of the community – she’s even been on a Mardi Gras float for godsake, she’s camp and she’s stood the test of time in a bitchy, competitive industry. We love that.
So when the team here at Same Same found ourselves at a loss for what to buy our dads this fathers day we turned to Moira for help and true to form she didn’t let us down.
So if you’re still stuggling to decide what to buy for your dad, then here’s Moira’s top five ideas for fathers day.
[AUDIO] “Why not take Dad on a thrill seeker ride? These are not for the faint hearted because this gets the heart pounding. Whether it’s car rally driving, V8 supercars or even an army tank, nothing beats an experience you and Dad can share.”
[AUDIO] “Now, most dads love their beer and love their wine so rather than just giving Dad another present, because that’s always difficult to do and he’s been given virtually everything over the years, why not take Dad out on a beer or wine tasting adventure where he’ll have a great time and perhaps learn something too?”
[AUDIO] “I think there’s a lot of Dads out there who don’t get in touch with their feminine side and don’t do enough to pamper themselves, so why not take Dad to a day spa for a massage, a facial or perhaps even a manicure? Perhaps dad’s fingers have had a lot of rough treatment over the years, so he can come home and wave those digits in front of mum and be very proud of his new look!”
[AUDIO] “Now most dads love a game of golf, but sometimes they don’t always get a chance to go out and play, or sometimes the weather is against them. Why not buy dad a home golf simulator? You can plug it into your pc or mac, you bring up the golf course on the screen and you use this small patch of turf that has a tee and a golf ball that’s tethered to it. Dad can practice using his own clubs from the comfort of home. Dads don’t often get to play with toys anymore, so this is something you can give him no matter what his age.”
[AUDIO] “I only discovered this the other day – I was live on air and I had to sit down on the Homedics Quadroller Massage Cushion and I was groaning on air with pleasure! It’s the next best thing to having your own masseuse. I haven’t felt anything like it that wasn’t human.”

And of course there’s loads of cool stuff for dad available online right now at TVSN.
