Remember Those Who Have Fallen

Winter may be upon us but that doesn’t mean that Melbourne has run out of hot hot events to keep you toasty. If you’re Heading out this weekend, then we’ve got the low down on exactly where you should be.
X Marks The Spot
When winter arrives, the whole scene tends to hibernate, and things seem to slow down a bit. But that’s definitely not the case at the Xchange Hotel. They’re turning up the heat, with great new drag shows and special weekly performances that are providing non-stop excitement for the scene in our colder winter months.
Firstly, starting this Thursday the Xchange Hotel brings you Bodyline, which is being billed as the first weekly male revue for gay guys. Ding Dong! Hello, I’m here for the strippers! The guys are buff and sexy and actually the kind of men you’d wanna see.
Fridays and Saturdays new drag shows are as current as ever, being inspired by hottest new hits of the stage and screen. Fridays will feature a Mamma Mia! inspired show by the Savage crew, and Saturdays the Xchange brings you their Wicked tribute. Check out a clip from their Wicked tribute and see why the Xchange shows are some of the best in Melbourne.
The action is on weekly, so make sure you get your end in.
Winning Pool
You only have days left to experience Pool (No Water), the amazing show by Red Stitch Theatre that closes July 5! So you better hurry or you’re going to miss a truly great piece of theatre. You will be on the edge of your seat and utterly captivated by this thrilling, dark rollercoaster ride to the darkest regions of the human soul. Tickets to the show are only $30 and it’s definitely money well spent.

Girl Powered Birthday
Wow! Three years old already? Well, time does fly when you’re having fun. It’s the special day of this wonderful girls night out. Melbourne’s dykes are asked to leave partying with their boy buddies for another night as Blond On The Rocks is girls only.
The night starts with the usual free champagne on arrival, and the Blonde organizers have ensured that their very favourite performers and DJ’s back by popular demand.
You’re also encouraged to dress up and be a star. There are certainly plenty of reasons to do so. Photographer Alise Black will be on hand with a glam photoshoot set up where you can play the model and get a copy to remember it by. You can also participate and lend your look to a hot upcoming lesbian short film directed by an award winning filmmaker.
And to top it all off, for all those in attendance there’s a chance to go into the draw to win a hers and hers Peter Alexander Pyjama set. Cute!
Doors at the super cool Eurotrash bar in the city open at 9pm, and the action goes to 3am. Entry is just $15 or $12 concession.
Happy birthday girls, congratulations on three years of party bliss.
A Great Night In
Sometimes the couch calls out to you louder than the club, and you just can’t go past a good night in. This week, you’ll have extra reason to play couch potato, with the season premiere of the first ever Australian Project Runway on Foxtel’s Arena this Monday 7th June at 7:30pm. They’ve got a fantastic line of of fashionistas for the Aussie version of this hit show which is set to be the queerest thing on TV since So You Think You Can Dance. In fact the Aussie Project Runway is a whole lot more overtly gay.
Check out the promo clip:
Get ready to see Australia’s very own ‘next best thing’ emerge from some of our finest up-and-coming fashion designers. Australian supermodel Kristy Hinze hosts and she will be joined by a dynamic panel of local fashionistas who will mentor and judge the competing wannabes each week as they vie for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to launch their career in Australian fashion.
It hasn’t even started yet and I’m already a huge fan of Leigh Buchanan. Look out for hotties Mark and Oren too. I’m not moving from the couch that night.
Then gather all your Madonna loving mates on Tuesday from 8:30pm as Music Max celebrates the Material girl’s illustrious career with a monster marathon of videos and interviews.
I pity those who don’t have cable. Oh well, there’s always youtube.
The Battle Of The Beats
More hot girl action is up for grabs next weekend too. Celebrate upstairs at the Prince of Wales in St Kilda on Friday 11th July, with a tasty mix of vocal house, electro and RnB as only those fab girls at Girlbar can serve up.
Little Shan and Jason C – two truly awesome DJs – go head to head in the second and final battle of the beats at Girlbar. Who will come up on top? Why you of course! As well as Melbourne’s sexy sassy girl scene (and their gay friends), who call this great monthly event their home. Friday 11th July just can’t come around fast enough.
See you out there!
X Travis
