Homesexual St Tropez – NYD
The first day of 2009 will be a glamorous one – at least, it will if the folk from Homesexual have anything to do with it! The theme is St Tropez – so it’s time for vulgar displays of wealth! DJs in the main arena are Chip, Dan Murphy vs Brisbane’s Harry K, Jayson vs Singapore’s Shigeki and Kitty Glitter vs Alex Taylor. Up on the roof Adam Sam will be DJing with Stephen Craddock, as well as Carl Thomas, Luke Leal and Justin Scott. There’s also a huge drag show planned led by Trevor Ashley as Jocelyn Wildenstein, which will no doubt be a hoot.

Tropical Fruits – NYE and NYD
It’s that time of year, when Lismore in Northern NSW turns into Australia’s gay mecca, thanks to the gorgeous folk at Tropical Fruits. This year the theme is Midnight Fantasy, and to grease your wheels they have DJs Ruby, Shigeki, Buck Naked, Ish, Rob Gilbert, Sveta, Kimo and Matt Vaughn. More information here. They also offer a 3 Party Pass for $150 which gets you into the Pool Party on New Year’s Day as well as their Recovery on New Year’s Night.
New Year’s Eve DogPound – NYE
For those of you who are into their leather and fetish, DogPound is taking over Manacle in Petersham from 9pm on New Year’s Eve. DJs will be Rob Davis, George Roussos, Mark Alsop, Matt Effect & Special Guest Jayson Leahy from Melbourne. And it’s not just for the boys either. As the poster says, “for durty dance dogs and our dirty bitch mates.”

Bitch Masquerade Ball – NYE
Ladies, Bitch’s 3rd annual Masquerade Ball will be hitting the White Horse in Surry Hills from 7pm. The party will be spread across three hot spaces – the huge outdoor terrace bar, the grand ballroom and the cocktail chill out lounge – and tunes will be provided by none other than Same Same 25er Ruby Rose, as well as UK’s Miss Crazy D, Beatrix and MissGee.

Arq – NYE and NYD
Arq will be welcoming in the New Year with a party on both levels. DJs will be Jake Kilby, Matt Steer, Mark Loasby, Nick Jay and Sandi Hotrod. Lockout applies from 2am so get in early! Plus, the doors swing open again from 9pm on NYD night with a rocking party featuring state of the art lighting and sound systems over two levels.

Phoenix Rising – NYE and NYD
The boys from Rising have something pretty special up their sleeves this New Year’s Eve. On Thursday 1 and Friday 2 Jan they’ll be taking over Spectrum upstairs, as well as Phoenix downstairs – so it’ll be double the capacity. They’ll also be opening at 5am on both those days.
MELBOURNE:
Rogue – NYD
There is only one decent gay dance party on this new year’s day and it’s Rogue. If Melbourne Cup’s Rogue party was anything to go by then you can expect this one to knock your socks off. It’s where many of the scene hotties are going to be.
If you love it sexy, uplifting and housey then this is the party for you, with a great DJ line up including Haylenise, Ben Jackson, Dan Murphy, Lim Jeka, Mike Evans, Adam Love, Damian Redrop and the sexy Scruffy. Only the gays could turn the usually straight and bogany Motel into one of the hottest places to party. With three dancefloors and a fabulous rooftop, I can’t possibly think of a better place to celebrate the first day of 2009!

Sensation – NYE
Man or woman, gay or straight, this is the party that everyone is talking about. But with it’s hefty $180 price tag, it certainly doesn’t come cheap! Join thousands of party-goers from around Melbourne and indeed the country as they converge at the Telstra Dome for the highly anticipated Sensation.
The awesome international DJ line up is gonna make you wet your pants, including locals Ben Morris, Grant Smillie, John Course and Australia’s #1 DJ tyDi. Internationals on the decks include Holland’s Marco V, Erick Morillo and the hot hot hot Fedde Le Grand. Sacre bleu! Aside from all the amazing lights, decore and music, there is also an amazing half an hour visual spectacular planned called Release.
The theme for the party is white, so it’s not going to be hard to spot Sensation party-goers when it’s all done!

With its 100% queer atmosphere, awesome rooftop with views of the city and its great resident DJ line up, The Market is always a great option at New Year’s Eve. On the decks are Market allstar DJs, Queen Martine from 10pm, James Fraiser from 1am, Tony Svehla from 4am and the fabulous Miss Elenie from 7am until 10am. And be there for Zowie Knox’s 3am Spectacular!

Minsky’s Circus Burlesque – NYE
House of Burlesque together with the Royal Melbourne Hotel at 629 Bourke Street, present one of the sexiest and most visually stimulating events this New Year’s Eve. Party under the stars in the atrium as you check out some of the hottest Burlesque shows and circus acts that Melbourne has to offer.
Your very reasonable $65 ticket includes fabulous entertainment by international burlesque stars Minsky Malone, Scandalous Scarlett, Sensual Siana, the very tall Emanate, and the House of Burlesque fan dancers. Big Lesbian NYE – NYE
Well girls, the name of this party says it all. Welcome in the new year with 600 women at this year’s Big Lesbian New Year’s Eve Party at St Pauls on Leichhardt. There will be three very different spaces to cater to all lesbians, of all ages and of all styles – the Chillout Room, Downstairs Dance and Upstairs Nightclub. The action starts at 8pm and goes til 3am New Year’s Day.

DTPM Byron Bay – NYD
DTPM Byron Bay is to be held on New Year’s Day night in the beachside town in Northern NSW. DTPM will be taking over La La Land, a hip boutique club and bar on Lawson Street in the middle of town for a rocking party that will welcome in 2009 with much DT fun and style. Resident DJ Alan Thompson and more will be making sure this normally quiet town pumps loudly on NYD Night.
