Same Same Goes To The Logies

It was a glittering, glamorous turn out at last night’s 51st Annual TV Week Logie awards. There was pandemonium, as fans lined up in the cold for hours outside Crown Casino just to catch a glimpse of their favourite stars.

Once again, the Logies had more than its fair share of queer energy! It all started with Carson Kressley who worked the red carpet as special guest fashion commentator. It was the first Logies for the Queer Eye fashion guru, who has also played fashion lookout at the Emmys and the Oscars. Kressley expressed how impressed he was at the Logies fashion this year. He was also the only celebrity we saw wearing the white knot ribbon, signifying support for Gay Marriage.

“I’m wearing this ribbon to show my support for equality!” Kressley told Same Same. “For too long gay, lesbian, queer and transgender people have been getting a raw deal, having their lives and relationships trivialised. I support the right to have gay marriage. I support gay love… all love!”

So You think You Can Dance’s Jason Coleman who looked dashing in a silver jacket and suit. Ruby Rose, true to form, looked both edgy and gorgeous in full black, attracting a swarm of media attention and enough flashes to cause her permanent damage! Fashion designer and judge on Project Runway Australia, Alex Perry, was also a very popular identity on the night, and so was his fashion that was worn by many ladies on the Logies red carpet.

Popular mainstream favourites with the crowd and media alike included the Home And Away and Underbelly casts, all of whom were glowing from rave reviews. A hot contender for the Gold Logie was Ian Smith, better known as Harold Bishop from Neighbours who was charming to fans, taking time out to talk and wave. As always, soul diva and Australian Idol judge Marcia Hines was all smiles.

“We’re just about to start auditions again for Australian Idol. It’s all come around so fast you know?” she told Same Same, “I’m preparing myself for the next round. Everything is really looking up, and I’m excited darling!”

Men’s fashion was the best it has been in ages, with most boys opting for bold twists on the classic suit. Leather, satin or vinyl detailing on suits was very popular, there were also a few sparkly ties and some bold print suits.

But it was the women who stole the show on the red carpet. Full black was as popular as ever, however red, off whites, aqua and purple were very much the trends of the night, all perfectly accessorised with sparkling diamonds and a clutched handcase.

Kerri-Anne looked positively radiant in her gorgeous fire engine red Alex Perry gown, dripping in a million dollars worth of diamonds and rubies. Dannii Minogue was show-stoppingly beautiful, dressed in a full length white gown, sporting a classic bob haircut, teamed with the best accessory of them all – her new man.

Underbelly’s Kat Stewart was Carson Kressley’s fashion winner in her beautiful textured full white J’Aton gown. Gold Logie nominee Natalie Bassingthwaighte looked stunning in an off white short dress detailed with diamantes and diamonds, and casually set hair.

“Oh my goodness… I was frantic before because I was running late getting here,” Natalie said to Same Same. “You know us girls take forever sometimes to get ready. But I’m much calmer now. It’s hard for me to believe sometimes. I’m here amongst so many beautiful and talented people and it’s so glamourous. It’s such fun! Though to be honest I won’t really be able to let my hair down till much later on. I’m singing my latest single at the end of the show, and I’ve gotta keep myself nice. But after it’s all done, wtch out!”
