Sparklers, popping champagne corks, fireworks, random pashes at midnight… Where will you be counting down to the New Year? If you haven’t made your mind up yet, Same Same has more than a few suggestions.

Celebration – NYE
If you’re looking for a gay new year’s eve on the harbour, with great music and the best views of the fireworks, then look no further than Celebration. They’re calling it “all-inclusive, fabulously exclusive and wonderfully private”. Renowned DJ Wayne G (pictured) will be keeping partygoers on their toes all night with a six hour set. The tickets are $500 each, but they include six hours on the balcony of the MCA at Circular Quay away from the masses, along with canapes, paella and free flowing alcohol all night. Doors open from 8pm and dress code is “fabulously stylish, stylishly fabulous – black, gold, pink.”

Stonewall’s Annual Masquerade Party – NYE
Tickets are $20 pre-sale or $30 on door. VIP cardholders $10 pre sale $15 on door. Each ticket comes with a mask for you to decorate. There’ll be 3 floors of Sydney’s finest DJs, showgirls and dancers, as well as a very special midnight performance.

Neon NYE
Tank nightclub is exploding with colour this new year’s eve, with UK DJ Joey Negro headlining the main room and Starfuckers in the backroom, alongside local talent Jason Barry, Eddie Coulter and Alan Thompson. Doors open at 9pm, providing a haven and fun oasis right near the best views of the fireworks.

Colombian – NYE and NYD
The mainbar will be pumping from 9pm New Year’s Eve, right through the evening of New Year’s Day. DJs include Brett Austin, David Smith, Gavyn Vincze, David DC, Doug James, Scott Tanner, Chip, Beatrix and Sandi Hotrod.

Tropical Fruits – NYE and NYD
It’s that time of year, when Lismore in Northern NSW turns into Australia’s gay mecca, thanks to the gorgeous folk at Tropical Fruits. This year the theme is The Elements, which is fitting, given that this party is nestled within the tropical paradise that is Northern NSW. To light your fire they have some of Australia’s best DJs – Kitty Glitter, Corey Czok, Kimo, Mandy Rollins, Neroli, Feisty, Steve Sonius, Phill Mezzatesta, Sveta, Matt Vaughan and Stephen Allkins. This isn’t just a party, it’s an entire experience, and as anyone will tell you, it’s all served with an extra dose of love. More information here. New Years Eve Party tickets are $75 (members)$90. (concession) and $100 for everyone else. They also offer a 3 Party Pass for $95 – $145 which gets you into the Pool Party on New Year’s Day as well as their Recovery on New Year’s Night. All the accommodation in Lismore is fully booked up now, but there’s still space at the camping site, which adds a whole new layer to the Tropical Fruits experience! This is a party well worth traveling for.

RedRatNYE
Sydney’s first legal DIY warehouse, Red Rattler in Marrickville, will be hosting their first NYE party, featuring headliner JD Samson, from Le Tigre and Men, along with Glitta Supernova, WIFE, Lillian Starr, ZooFi, Tranny Cops, KK No Pantz, Mighty Hermaphrodite and Stranger Danger, alongside music sets from Melbourne’s Plast Her Ov Paris and DJ Gemma.

New Year’s Eve DogPound – NYE
It was such a smash last year, so they’re doing it again! For those of you who are into leather and fetish, DogPound is taking over the Outback Bar at The Clarence in Petersham from 9pm on New Year’s Eve. DJs will be Rob Davis, Jason Leahy and George Roussos.

Bitch Masquerade Ball – NYE
Ladies, get ready to welcome in the new year, as Bitch brings the Black and White Masquerade Ball to the White Horse Hotel in Surry Hills. Djs confirmed so far include Sista P, Beatrix and GI Jode. Drag king Rocco D’Amore will also be making the trip up from Melbourne. Now in its fourth year, this event always sells out, so don’t miss out.

Daywash Second Load – NYD
Daywash at Chinese Laundry was the party of the Sleaze season, so it’s no wonder that all tickets for this one have already been snapped up. There may be some left on the door, pending space, so if you’re really keen you can head on down to the venue and queue. Daywash is brought to you by the Phoenix Rising and Rogue Party crews, and this time around they’re promising 4 dance areas, 10 hours, 21 DJs. That’s pretty impressive. Some of the names include: Mike Kelly, Chip, Adam Watts, Sista P, Keenan, Alex Taylor, Johan Khoury, Dan Murphy, Sandi Hotrod, Jimmy Dee, Dom De Sousa and Jason Barry. And yes, the free disco bus is back! So hop onboard from Phoenix Rising on New Years Day. Party starts at midday.
“Expect an invigorating experience, wet and wild, with some male nudity,” says promoter Johan Khoury. “It’s a no brainer why this party sold out in under 5 days.”

Frisky – NYD
The Frisky team will be bringing the magic back to the Metro Theatre on New Year’s Day, with DJs Eddie Coulter, Dan Murphy and Wayne G playing in the Playroom, and Scott Anderson and JoJo in the Pleasure Room. There are still tickets available, but get in quick.

Homesexual Ipanema Beach– NYD
The Homesexual team will be welcoming in the first day of 2010 in style, with a Brazilian beach theme and DJ Aimee Newman direct from Brazil, playing alongside Chip, Kitty Glitter, Jayson Forbes, Justin Scott, Harry K and Mikey C.

Tara McDonald – NYD
International singer Tara McDonald, the voice of David Guetta’s Delirious and Armand Van Helden’s My My My will be performing live at Slide on New Years Day. Doors open from 3pm.

Phoenix Rising – NYE and NYD
The boys from Rising have something pretty special up their sleeves this New Year’s Eve. On New Year’s Day Big Q Rising returns to QBar from 5.30am until midday. This time around they’ll be taking over two levels and there will be six international and resident DJs including Jc Christopher from the UK. Advance tickets will be available next week from the Same Same shop for only $20 +BF.

Big Q Rising will be back at QBar on Saturday 2 Jan with nine DJs spread over two levels including Wayne G. Advance tickets will be available next week from the Same Same shop for only $20 +BF.

Rising will return to its regular home on Sunday 3 Jan – the Phoenix – from 6am until midday.
