Hustlaball, one of the world’s sexiest, most notorious dance parties, is about to land in London. Same Same’s European correspondent chats to Sean Van Sant about why this event is worth getting on a plane for.

So tell me about Hustlaball. What is it in a nutshell?
Well, our parties feature stageshows by the most exciting international gay porn talents plus a stellar roster of DJs and a who’s who of local nightclub personalities. That mix produces a great party in every city HustlaBall travels to because it involves both the local scenesters and out of towners, new music, and eye-popping performances! How many Hustlaballs are there each year, and in which cities do they happen?
This year there are three HustlaBalls in 2010: London (May 2), New York (Oct 10) and Berlin (Oct 15).

So can you give us a bit of history about where Hustlaball came from?
The party was started by Rentboy.com in 1988 in New York City. It was held in the legendary Times Square hustler club Stella’s. It was a big hit, and we realised there was a hunger for this type of celebration of professional whorishness and great music, a place where “hustlers”, sluts and pornstars are celebrated and can let it all hang out on the dancefloor! The New York City party became bigger year after year, moved into larger venues and on to San Francisco (2000), Chicago (2000), Los Angeles (2002), Berlin (2003) Las Vegas (2005).

So what numbers are you expecting at your upcoming Hustlaball in London?
About 3,500 people, and it has sold out its venue every year in London.

Do you ever get many Aussies at your party? Would you ever plan on taking Hustlaball to Australia?
Aussie boys really get around, there are always a fair number of them in New York and London. We would love to have a HustlaBall Sydney. Probably not during Mardi Gras as you already have enough going on at that time, but we love the spirit down under and we think Aussies would love whoring out on the dancefloor at HustlaBall.

What are the highlights you’re looking forward to at the London party?
This year, we have internationally renowned trapeze artist and avant garde cabaret performer Empress Stah, performing a couple of her controversial acts, which I’m really looking forward to! Trojan Rock from Alphamale Media will be directing the stage shows this year. We’ll have over 50 pornstars, erotic performers, and outrageous fetish acts from the biggest porn studios including superstar names such as Michael Lucas, Junior Stellano, Barrett Long, Rafael Alencar, Logan McCree, Ryan Raz, Fernando Lopez, Aaron Cage, Aitor Crash and many more will be joined by newcomers from the Spain, Germany, France, UK and the US.
