As winter continues to send those shivers down your spine, it comes as no surprise few people are hitting the clubs, so what then? Well you could cuddle up with special person at home or decide to brave the cold and hit up the local cinema.
The month of May sees both national and international films hitting the silver screen that will have people talking well beyond the credits have rolled. So I’ve taken it upon myself to share the must-see flicks of May.
First up is Australian made film Snowtown that tackles the “bodies in the barrels” murders. The film has been causing quite the controversy, and due to its content it is no surprise why. Though beautifully executed, it isn’t a movie for the weak-hearted. There is a very thin line between right and wrong and this film questions it on both sides. You can check out a review here.
Next up is a movie that I have been dying to see since I first saw the redband trailer – Your Highness starring the ever “nice on the eyes” James Franco. A lazy prince must help rescue the bride of his heroic brother or risk being banished from the kingdom. Think of a medieval Pineapple Express accompanied with monsters and evil wizards. Add Danny McBride and a kick-ass Natalie Portman that definitely proves she is no damsel in distress, you can guarantee hilarity will follow.
Tipped to be one of the most anticipated sequels of 2011, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is set to rekindle that love of the swashbuckling Jack Sparrow once more. This time with no Orlando Blood and way more Johnny Depp, an assortment of new characters including a love interest played by Penelope Cruz, a quest for the fountain of youth, scary pirate zombies and evil mermaids, you can bet the franchise will reach more heights.
Hangover not only left its viewers in fits of laughter, but it also made people aware of how easily a night out with the mates can go terribly astray. After surviving that fateful night in Las Vegas, The Hangover Part 2 sees the “wolf pack” finding themselves in Thailand while once more trying to piece together what happened the night before. The trailer is packed with hilarious action that will leave cinema-goers in fits of laughter and any movie with a naughty monkey has to be good right?
These are just a few of the “must see” movies hitting the silver screen during May – which ones will you be watching?
