2011 is almost over and Sydney’s Same Samers are already frantically planning our New Years party schedule – boy are we spoiled for choice!

NEW YEAR’S EVE

New Year’s Eve falls on a Saturday this year, and promoters are going nuts to ensure that parties will not disappoint!

Luna Park’s Harbour Party is returning this year with acts Wynter Gordon, Yolanda Be Cool, Zoe Badwi and The Potbelleez providing the entertainment. The DJ line-up includes Ajax, Beni and Cassian, starting the party right underneath the Harbour Bridge from 6:30pm. Tickets start at $119, and are available here.

Celebration NYE2012 is happening at the Museum of Contemporary Art (Harbourside Room & Terrace) on Circular Quay, with an incredible view. DJ Murray Hood will be on the decks and all food and drink is provided. The dress code has interestingly been named “Smart Gay Lounge” in Black, Gold, and Pink. Tickets start at $415 – book here.

Sydney Resolution Concert Series, whilst not exclusively homo, is hosting a very gay-friendly extravaganza on Glebe Island, with performers including Pet Shop Boys (pictured above), Boy George’s band Culture Club, Jamiroquai and Guy Sebastian. Combined with spectacular views of the Harbour, event crew will turn Glebe Island into a ‘mini-city’ with food, bars and entertainment galore. Gates open at 2pm, and ticket prices go from $198 for general admission, up to $750 for VIP packages. Here’s the website.

The Opera House will be hosting an ‘epic’ party this New Years Eve that brings together the party planning talents of Icebergs owner Maurice Terzini, Sneak Sound System’s Angus McDonald and Ksubi director Dan Single. The all-inclusive event will be headlined by Mardi Gras DJ Frankie Knuckles, combined with unrivalled harbour views and an agenda of custom cocktails to die for. Tickets are $695 and are available here.

Swagger is a bootypoppin, move-making lineup of RnB and Hip Hop sets by DJs Booth, Smiley M, Boyonce and Gay-Z, taking over the Oxford Hotel on New Year’s Eve. The event carves out a unique Flava on Sydney’s scene, dedicated to a gay and gay friendly crowd who share a love for the music. Find tickets here.

Beefy blokes, furry studs, cute cubs and hot daddies – this is the bear party for you! Chunky 2012 takes over Oxfors Art Factory with DJs Matt Effect, Tim McLoone, Colin Gaff, Frankie Shin, Mark Alsop and Gavyn Vincze. Get your tickets here.

Shore Thing has been a favorite of local gays for years. With David Guetta and Arman Van Helden playing this year, the full line-up for the Bondi Beach music festival also includes Calvin Harris, Snoop Dogg and Pendulum headlining from 10pm. Tickets are almost sold out, but some can still be purchased here.

The Imperial Hotel’s New Year’s Eve party kicks off at 10pm on the 31st, promising DJ’s Craig Payne and Neil Hume and the excitement of the fireworks and countdown to 2012 on big screens in the public bar.

New Year’s Eve at Stonewall will be a sexy Masquerade Fantacy* hosted by drag diva Tora Hyman. There’ll be three floors of entertainment with tickets $20 pre-booked and $30 on the door.

NEW YEAR’S DAY

In recent years, New Year’s Day has become the new New Year’s Eve, and to welcome 2012, January 1’s parties in Sydney are more exciting and bigger than ever.

Homesexual: New Years Gay is looking to be Sydney’s gayest New Year Day event, with Rhys Bobridge and drag-trio Trevor Ashley, Charisma Belle and Tora Hymen headlining a Mexican theme at Home nightclub, Darling Harbour. DJ’s on the night will include Jayson Forbes, Kate Monroe, Alex Taylor, Adam Love and Kitty Glitter from 11pm. More information can be found here.

New Years Daywash will also be pumping come with international headlining DJs Cahill and Liam Keegan. Chinese Laundry will also play host to DJ Pornstar and John Thomas from L.A., so get your shirts off for the hottest party around. Tickets are now sold out, but hurry along to Daywash.com.au to check out details of the after-party starring sexy visiting DJ Marco Da Silva at Oxford Street’s My House from 9pm.

Get Together is back, promising the ‘freshest’ party to celebrate the new year, with guest singer Inaya Day announced as the event’s shining star. Combining the forces that stage FagTag and Bitch parties, last year’s sold out party absolutely packed out Cruise Bar in Circular Quay, and this year looks set to be even bigger with an extra level added, a record 10 DJs and surprise entertainment from 3pm right through until 11.30pm. Some tickets are still available at $60 and can be bought here.

Field Day has been a Sydney New Year’s Day staple for years, and the line-up in The Domain this year includes Justice, Calvin Harris, Example and Gotye. Tickets are still available here.

The Beresford welcomes punters from midday to a ‘flowerbomb explosion’ in the courtyard, with DJs Kitty Glitter, Kate Munroe, Murray Hood, Eddie Coutler and Scott Tanner spinning their discs and happy hour discount drinks 5-7pm.

Off-Oxford Street gay stalwart superclub Arq will celebrate the new year with visiting New York DJ Justin Ryan and a bunch of local disc-spinners. Doors open at 9pm and the party goes to 11:30am on Monday Jan 2. Costs $25 at the door.
