Same Same chatted to Nita as the party-starter prepares to pack his tracks and join us down under.

Hi Nita. Have you been to Australia before? What do you know about the scene down here?
I have never been to Australia before which is what makes these gigs extra exciting! I’ve been friends with DJ Sveta for a few years since she first came to play at Mr. Black, the sickest underground club to hit NYC this past decade. She’s an incredible DJ, one that I’m constantly inspired by, and she has been integral in getting me over to your side of the globe to give you a proper NY-style BEATdown.
Not to mention the fact that there is some great music coming out of Australia that has hit huge worldwide, but I don’t have to tell you that. At the end of the day ass-shakin rhythms are everywhere…and I cannot WAIT to tap y’alls!
What kinds of music do you love to play and what can Aussie partygoers expect from your sets?
My style comes straight from the New York City underground house scene where it’s merged with new beats from all over the globe. I’ll definitely be bringing my signature Nita tracks, my favorite classics and a whole bunch of new sounds that are killing the kids over here in NYC.
I draw on a lot of different genres for inspiration…but when you get right down to it, it’s House Music All Night Long.
We love your mix of Beyonce’s End of Time. What do you look for in a good song to mix?
For me it has a lot to do with the artist and how the original track makes me feel. When I first heard the new Beyonce album I loved it, it was so refreshing in today’s pop music landscape to hear a record that wasn’t the same as everything else. I was already playing the songs at my gigs when they approached me to do the remixes and I jumped at the chance… I mean, how am I gonna turn down a Beyonce remix, she’s number one for me in pop/r&b right now and I just HAD to get my hands on those vocals.
So you play three decks at once? Sounds awesome! How do you keep your energy going?
Playing with acapellas and manipulating samples has always been a big part of my DJing and in order to make that flow seamlessly, more than two decks are required. It’s a skill I’ve been working on for years and when the party is ready then my brain just switches into that mode.
Information comes at us so fast these days that we’re all a little ADD by now, working on three decks allows me to explore and exploit my wild side while still DJing in a somewhat traditional style!
