Mardi Gras Party – who, whenand where

On Saturday night the Entertainment Quarter will be transformed into an amazing Mardigrasland theme park – promising an adventurous and sexy ride through a night of music, dance and electrifying acts.

Partygoers can expect to be taken on an experiential trip through Mardigrasland, a place with many different themed ‘lands’, each with their own unique flavour – as well as being entertained by superstar Australian and international performers and DJs.

The party runs from 10pm right through to 8am. Got your ticket? Be ready to show your ID as you enter, as well as your Mardi Gras membership card or concession card should your ticket require it. There will be a separate entrance way for Members and Premium ticket holders, where unique wristbands will be issued.

Here’s the official map of the party below – and click here for a larger version.

And here’s all the set times… with some useful info for getting the most out of your Mardi Gras Party experience below them.

SYDNEY MARDI GRAS PARTY 2012:
MARDIGRASLAND SET TIMES

CANDYWORLD (Royal Hall of Industries) (10pm – 8am)

10pm – Kitty Glitter

2am – Andy Almightyc
4am – Wayne G
6am – Lee Dagger

Candyworld (RHI) will also feature shows by Kylie Minogue, Ru Paul, Sam Sparro, Sneaky Sound System and Shauna Jensen. Times for most shows will be advertised outside the RHI on the night. Same Same predicts that Kylie will be there fairly early – perhaps 1am or 2am.

NOTE: Each venue has a capacity limit. It has been common at previous parties for a venue to be locked down when capacity is reached, for safety reasons. That means no more people can enter unless a significant number of others leave it. With the star-studded line-up on offer, expect this to occur at this year’s Party. If you want the best chance for access to a particular area at a particular time, go there early.

With acclaimed promoter Renee Shembri as Shangri La’s Creative Director, this tailor made grrrl den will be spilling over with women of ever colour, creed and breed – all looking to get down (and sometimes dirty) to the sounds pumping throughout this dedicated all-girl zone…

Having an awesome party

Mardi Gras is all about meeting wonderful new people, spreading the love and sometimes wearing next to nothing! We love the sexy atmosphere, but make sure you treat everyone with respect.

> Don’t deliberately touch anyone without express permission.

> Don’t insult anyone about their appearance – Mardi Gras is a place that celebrates the beautiful diversity of genders, sexualities, ages, shapes and sizes.

As with most big party events, you can expect to see Police and drug dogs. They may be present at the entrance and inside the Party. Expect pat-downs and bag searches.

ACON will be providing Rovers who will be patrolling all areas of the party looking out for your safety. The medical team is behind the Hordern Pavillion. If you or a friend need assistance, or you see someone in trouble, contact any ACON Rover or member of security – they are in radio contact with the medical teams and can call for assistance. If you or someone you know needs help, it is important to let ACON Rovers and Medical staff know if they have used any drugs or alcohol. Rovers and medical staff treat this information as confidential.

Safe sex packs will be available from the Information Kiosk in the foyer of the Hordern Pavillion.

Look after your belongings by popping them in the Cloakroom, located next to Hi-Fi Ballroom. Members and Premium ticket holder’s wristbands will also give you priority access to the Cloakroom. The Cloakroom is run by the Metropolitan Community Church, and your Cloakroom fee is a donation.

For all lost property at the Party call ACON reception on 9206 2043 from Monday 5th March.

Above all, EMBRACE and ENJOY Australia’s biggest LGBTI Party of the year.

Same Same will feature photos from Mardigrasland in the hours and days after the event. We can’t wait to party with you on Saturday and see you again later for all the pics.

To all our readers – Happy Mardi Gras!

Have a great night tomorrow night everyone. I would highly recommend being inside the RHI well before 12 if you are hoping to see Kylie and do not leave until she finishes (I believe there are toilets inside) as they will close off entry early with such a high-profile performance and you will not be able to get back in (i believe they closed off RHI for George Michael about 12 the year he performed and that night wasnt sold out)
