On the Logies' red carpet

It was Australian television’s night of nights. Stevie Toms, one of JOY 94.9FM’s most sparkling personalities, gives us the lowdown from his spot on the red carpet.

So Steve, it was your first time covering the Logies. How was it for you?

The experience was amazing! I had an absolute ball on the red carpet hosting the Logies for JOY 94.9 with the gorgeous Shannon Power. I have wanted to attend the Logies since I was a little boy, so this was a dream come true! In my work with JOY 94.9 I have been lucky to have interviewed many celebs and it was nice to see so many familiar faces and to get to meet some new ones! It’s definitely an experience I recommend if you get the chance!

The night started in the busy media room before being escorted to the red carpet, where there was an allocated space for each media outlet. JOY 94.9 was lucky enough to interview many well know faces of the Australian Television industry. While crowds had gathered to see the cream of Australian TV talent, the night was somewhat dominated by the many One Direction fans there on the night. It was busy with screaming teenage girls and boys. Manic and loud!

Check out some Logie Red Carpet photos by Betty Sujecki below.

Who were your favourite celebs that you met?

Oh gosh! So many! Alex Perry (fashion designer), Essie Davis (The Slap, Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries), Don Hany (East West 101/Offspring) , Kat Stewart (who I’ve previously interviewed), Hamish and Andy, Natasha Belling (10 News), Hayden Quinn (celebrity chef) , Dr Chris Brown (Bondi Vet), John Waters (TV legend/Offspring), Sarah Ferguson (Four Corners)… just to name a few.

You’re a bit of a fashionista. Tell me about some of the hottest fashion you saw on the night. Did you spot any trends?

There were some AMAZING gowns at the Logies this year. As you’d expect there were a lot of sequins and bold colours for the ladies. Gosh it’s so hard to single one out! While most of the gents were in dapper black suits with a classic bow tie – classic style with a retro twist – which has resurfaced as a massive trend for the boys.

I loved Seal’s outfit he looked stunning in a cream suit! I also though Mel Doyle (Sunrise) looked stunning and Hayley Lewis – wearing Alex Perry. Carrie Bickmore also looked stunning in her dress by Sydney Designer BOWIE.

What happened with your interviews from the red carpet? When will they be broadcast?

You can catch the Logies interviews we did on The Shapow Show from 5pm Saturday On JOY 94.9FM. They will also be on Fabulous Fridays – my new show – 2-4PM. The interviews will also be available later on Podcast. For more info or to listen live, visit the JOY 94.9 website.

I thought this years logies was one of the worst.

Hamish blake, sure he is a nice guy but to be crowned most popular personality simply for telling jokes about his mum and playing pranks on people????

The ceremony went for waaaaaay too long, the 'logie minute' segments were completly pointless and dont get me started on the constant channel 9 cross promotional bullshit.

The only thing that saved the whole thing was Prue and Trude and adam hills' opening monoluge.

The logies are becoming more of a joke than a awards cereomony. I think the pokie machines in the crown's s gaming floor are less rigged than TV's 'night of nights'.
