The Melbourne Cup. The race that stops the nation is only days away, and with it comes hot fellas in suits lasses in frocks and fascinators, and more horse talk than a conversation about Sarah Jessica Parker.

But that’s not all that’s on the cards as Melbournites gear up for a long weekend of pumping parties filled with more fun than you can poke a crop at. Giddy up!

While the regular venues are bumping up their usual nights and events there’s plenty more to choose from, so here’s Same Same’s sample of what’s on offer for the Melbourne Cup Long weekend…

Friday November 2nd:

Closet presents Closet #4 Oprah’s Favourite Things

It may not have much horse but this monthly dance party is always a ball for homosexuals and those who love them, so bring along your very own Gayle and come out of the CLOSET this Spring Carnival!

First Floor, 393 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy from 10pm. $10 on the door

Boylesque presents ZOMBIE

The Greyhound are still in the spooky spirit and adding a Zombie twist to their Friday night Boylesque antics with Vampires, Ghouls and the Boylesque boys dancing up a storm – who could ask for anything more!

SYSTEM

It’s Sircuit’s 5th birthday, so for the month of Novemeber you get free entry into all of their paid events, which includes SYSTEM on a Saturday night. It’s Men Only and free entry down and upstairs with DJs Jayson Leahy and Peter McNamara.
