Four more years! Sighs ofrelief as Obama wins again

In a nail-biting vote count today, LGBT- and marriage equality-friendly leader Barack Obama has again been chosen by the American people as their President.

And all the celebs we follow on Twitter couldn’t be happier.

The good news doesn’t end there though. Outspoken out lesbian Democrat Tammy Baldwin has won the Senate seat for Wisconsin, and will now become the first out LGBT member of the US Senate.

This election day was an important one for marriage equality too, with several states polling to decide whether same-sex couples could walk down the aisle.

The results of the Maine, Maryland, Minnesota and Washington polls all clearly went the way of equality. Minnesota rejected a proposed constitutional ban on same-sex marriage, and the other three states decided to give gay couples the right to marry.

Below, see how some of Same Same’s favourite celebs are reacting to Obama’s #election2012 win on Twitter this afternoon.

And from the man himself, a picture.

Its a fantastic day for our community. I am so happy for America! The first U.S president to openly support same sex equality & be elected.

HELL YEAH!.. Now all we need is time to let the rest of the world see that society as they know it is not ruined by letting people that love each other get married.

This is Australia we have an very conservative government and a very conservative prime minister, ranting about mines and budgets, like a dusty old school mam.

We have nothing to do with America.

Australia generally follows the U.S. and U.K when it comes to social issues.

Yes but that is more to do with their territory concerns.

Has little to do with our social concerns.

I beg to differ.

In what way?

We might follow rap and buy Nike but as far as anything beyond popular commercialism ( a sold product), we are falling into the dark ages.

Obama says anyone can win in America, Gillard has a far less democratic ideal, while Abbott even less.

Australia is a plug hole for loser polies ready to jump the resource bandwagon, irrelevant of human, social or cultural cost.

All Obama did was make everyone in America Americans, Gillard is still trying to ostracize folk for many various laws and stuff.
