How to Survive a Plague

This documentary charts the early days of the AIDS crisis and the brave people who stood up, shattered the silence, and fought back against stigma and oppression in order to force America to deal with the reality of the epidemic.

With never-before-seen archival footage from the '80s and '90s, filmmaker David France puts the viewer smack in the middle of the controversial actions, the heated meetings, the heartbreaking failures, and the exultant breakthroughs of heroes in the making.

This film is nominated for Best Documentary at the 2013 Oscars.
