She was actually raised a strict Catholic so i guess it gives her licence to say what she wants on the matter if its in jest - she knows & understands what she is dealing with, she's not just making some comment from left field.

Its like how gay people can call each other names like faggot, homo, queer in jest - names that used to be offensive and would otherwise be considered abusive - just coz.

Oh yeah, and religious people can say and do whatever they want no matter how seriously hypocritical it is!

I travelled across the US earlier this year tuning into her show every week...i gotta say i hated Kathy Griffin when she was on Suddenly Susan and when she got all that plastic surgery and couldn't fucking shut up about it but after watching this show i think she is one of the funniest female comedians of her generation. She is the queen of adlib and celebrity gossip, says what she wants when she wants. She deserves every accolade she receives (she's been nominated before but lost out to Extreme Home Makeover - i mean come on) and finally broke thru for her first win and rightly so the show is brilliant. Check out her on youtube - the stuff about Whitney, Ryan Seacrest, the Olsens and Anna Nicole (RIP!) is piss funny. I hope she comes to Australia - on TV and in person. Thanks for the article.
