I totally heart this... the things is so many people do not realise how their meal came about.
the meat we eat - once was an animal who suffered a sad life before a torturous death.
Out of sight out of mind?

i have to agree - i have always said that if i had to kill my meat myself i would never eat it. i guess that's a total cop out, because really - the result is still the same. i have tried the vegetarian thing before, and found that it was really hard to maintain my energy levels. anyone got any tips? maybe we could start a movement - 'gays against meat'? (a contradiction in terms?)

as much as I can understand these comments (by the celebs above) I'm just a big carniverous man and love my meat too much to ever give it up!

I love Sophie to bits when she's not collapsing because of her eating disorder, and I would never wear fur but likewise, I could never give up having steak every now and then

I used to be the biggest carnivore on the planet - LOVED meat - HATED veggies. I decided to go vegetarian, and now I'm vegan. People ask me, how can you live without . . .? and they name their favourite food, like cheese, or ice cream, or whatever. Honestly, I can say, I don't miss anything. I think if you give it long enough, your body changes, and you don't crave the stuff you used to love. Restaurants are great now - just about everywhere you can get a veggo meal (just don't ask too much about the stock!). It is a big adjustment, but it really pays off in terms of health benefits, greater clarity of mind, more energy - and peace of mind. It's worth the effort.

I barely eat meat that much to be honest and I don't wear furs...leather on the other hand is another story...cows and pigs get killed all the time for meat you may as well make a decent football, boots, jacket, pants or belt from their skin. Can't let the dead animal go to waste.
If I am going to eat meat I at least make sure I only get what I will actually eat because I don't like having to throw stuff out. When my grandmother used to cook chicken soup/broth she would keep the chicken after it was finished, strip the meat off the chook and keep it for sandwiches for the following days after...back in Poland she would also keep the fat scooped off the top of the soup when it set so the fat could be used to cook sausages. If you can salvage as much of the animal as possible then I don't see it was being wastefull or wrong to kill it and yes I have seen animals get killed for food...its gross to watch but then again there are also heaps of other natural things that are quite gross to see.
This all being said and done, vegetarian food is much kinder on the wallet.
Oh an PeTA are a pack of fucking douchenozzles.

Agree and I'd kill and cut up my own food if I had to, so I'm at peace with myself, what does annoy me is people who buy and/or cook meat and then waste it. The killing should be humane and swift and the animal should not be wasted, it's disrespectful.
