Ok, been here for a while now, and it's so lovely being able to be here with all you wonderful people....even though the ladies are still under-represented a little here!

I'm still struggling with how to break into the scene. I need to get out more but I'm not a club girl, and I feel safer going out to things in the day rather than night at first because I have to travel to Sydney from the mountains. I know things that are happening up here but they aren't really me. I'm trying hard to move to the city but I need some contacts to make it more enticing....
any ideas for this difficult girl?

sorry bells, i have nothing but sympathy for you =(. i'm having the same problem, and dont' exactly want to hang around clubs and bars to meet people. there are some monthly meet ups and things going on though, have you tried any of those?

Lol well I'm (eventually) moving to Sydney but have very few contacts there (and I've only physically met one! lol) Unfortunately, if you don't like what's on around you, you're pretty hard put to find something as most things are on in the evenings as most people work during the day. I know that here in Perth we have a GLBT dance class and a GLBT badminton session (unfortunately both on the same damned night!!!) but that's all that we have I believe. Maybe you could make a night of it and stay in a hotel overnight if you don't have to work in the morning and dont want to travel at night?
I'm sure if Perth has a badminton class, Sydney will have heaps more. This is part of why I want to move there!!

er, see, I kinda like badminton but I have a physical disability...another bloody strike against me! :( Most physical activities (but not all ;)) are kinda out for me.
I love chilling out in pubs with mates, i just don't like the heavy dancey type clubs where you can't hear anyone.

I am a memebr of Sapphic sydney but am kind of turned off because I keep getting spam from religious freaks. It is very peculiar. I'll give it another shot.

I'm a little out of the scene myself. But when I was totally out of it and I didn't know any lesbos at all I made some lovely friends through pink sofa and it all kinda branched off from there. Have you tried pink sofa or gaydargirls?

I hate clubbing, it's so...ugh. I have found sometimes planning something on here and seeing who turns up, sometimes you can meet a few people that way? Like meeting for coffee, movie, bowling, bushwalk etc, something that interests you and see if anyone replies. Sometimes it works really well and sometimes not. I do remember this chick Helen came on the Melbourne board once and kept trying to organise a meet up and it was always one person can't do this day, someone can't do that day. Finally she picked a date for a meet up, and I felt sorry for her so I went along. Another girl from here came too....and Helen never showed! So that can happen but don't be discouraged, because other times quite a few gals turned up.

Happy to be me
