i can't get no sleep
no seriously, I have been unable to sleep the last few weeks, I think it has something to do with my bipolar/dieting/exams...not good

Hey Jakie, I've been there and survived a similar stage. I did end up going to a doctor when it started to affect my life. But sometimes it helps to get stuff off your chest by talking to someone.
I think Syd Uni has plenty of free services for you to use.

Hey Jackie,
I've suffered various forms of sleep disturbia since about the age of 17 (im now 24)
and for what ever my own reasons are its not fun all the same...
some times I cant get to sleep, sometimes I cant stay asleep... its very frustrating espesh when the next day is a very important one...
Ive tested the dope effect and whilst fun and VERY relaxing it isnt exactly legal so i dont recommend it. :p
My Doctors gave me drugs to knock me out but at the same times whilst GREAT at getting me to doze off, they didnt keep me asleep and i found the next day i was so buggered from it that it was worse then having no sleep at all.
One thing i have found to be very effective is a “natural” drug... Valerian forte, it is surprisingly very effective, I've always been sceptical about natural remedies but i swear by this one. It doesn’t have an "after effect" either which is great. :)

Cheers Nevarro!
Yeh its a shame cos I can't punch any cones while I'm studying for important exams plus I'm dieting so I shall give that Valerian forte a try.

Jackie,
You mentioned you are dieting - in what way, and waht are you taking to diet (if anything). If you are using diet pills, fat metabolisers or thermogenics then that is why you are not sleeping. Also being hungry tends to keep people awake.
If you are taking diet supplements then try easing off on them a little or take them no later than 2pm or else they wont have worn off by sleep time. Metabolisers, V, thermogenics all work on caffeine and taurine.
Another thing is you are probably going to the gym a lot therefore your protein requirement s are quite high. As a result try getting some turkey breast and eating it as you last snake an hour before bed - this will save you a protein shake & the upside is turkey is chock full of sleepy goodness - or tryptophan.
I cant personally vouch for valerian as it does nothing for me but it is worth a try, some people like it.
I go through about 4 periods of insomnia every year so i understand that soon you will want to go crazeeeeee (homer style)....so in desperation there is restavit (over the counter) but it is an awful drug (antihistamine in large dose) with an equally awful hangover - so i definitely dont recommend it.
Hope it helps
