How did you guys party away the mardi gras night after the parade?

There was a massive fucking line at Mardi Bar. Two lines. Left for the paying people and right for the RSVP freeless entry people. Needless to say, the left line was much quicker. There was this super nice Aussie guy that I really wanted to eat. (Didn't have dinner) It was crowded as. God he was nice...

I didn't even get time to make a circuit. As we started talking, I was called up and had to fish some super fucked out of their minds friends out of the Midnight Shift. $25 for entry! Fucking wtf! Shift isn't even as nice as Mardi Bar! I don't remember the entry fee to Mardi Bar but I can tell you it wasn't filled with grot shitheads and costed that much.

What's up with Shift turning into the ethnic dumping ground?

Any way, my night was parade > oxford roof top > mardi bar > shift.

There were so many police every fucking where. Its like the whole force was out. (and not proud) Did you guys see Oxford just full of rubbish? Did you notice all the fucking straight bogans hoping to ride the wave of sexuality and get some tits? Disgusting.

There was a float that was all just wild sexuality. THE FUCK?! HOW IS THAT SUPPORTIVE OF GLBT?! Sure we may fuck like crazy but come on! Being gay is same sex fucking and loving. What was up with those eco gays? You can't get any more niche than a lesbian green energy group FOLLOWED BY A FUCKING GAY GREEN GROUP. Why are there two groups?!

Jesus fucking Christ, I'll take my normal Oxford street any day. I want all the snarky homophobic straight fucks to fuck off and my gay bars throat down cock gay instead of hetero shitero dancing.

I'm sorry, I had some really bad pot last night, was nearly arrested by some dumb shit cop and saw a lot of bogans. God I hate bogans. Unnatural!

I loved how we transitioned from Sydney floats to ALIENS AND BUZZ LIGHTYEAR and then *Melbourne*. We sure didn't segregate ourselves weirdly, hahahahaha.

This is Oxford at lunch.

Oxford at around 4ish~ Coffee time.

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100227_mardigra03.jpg
The massive crowd before the parade. It was impossible to get close if you didn't camp out. Massive, massive amounts of people.

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100227_mardigra04.jpg
The shit foxtel coverage. If you looked out the window, there was the parade. Did you guys see the fire works? It was right outside our window and not even covered by the cameras. Yeah... Nice job getting everything on tele.

The incredulous line outside Mardi Bar. Was Mardi Bar a gay bar? I could've sworn it seems straight last night.

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100227_mardigra06.jpg
Oxford from upstairs Nevermore. It was this wave of people as far as the eye can see. Rubbish every where.

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100227_mardigra07.jpg
I can't tell where this is from the photo, nor can I remember. Mardi Bar although it seemed kind of mixed, was nice. The people were having a good time. When I went over to the Shift, my God. I think everyone thought that everyone else was ugly. Loads of shit heads, wankers and omg wtfs. I'm carrying my gaylord friend out and my petite asian lesbian's on my arm. We're squeezing through and this asshole just elbows my friend for funsies. I just started fucking yelling at him there and then. What a shit head, yeah, look the fuck away and pretend like nothing happened.

Crowd outside Shi(f)t.

Depending on where you were and the company you were with, Mardi Gras was amazing. Out on the streets with all these shit heads, argh.

These are just the mobile phone photos. I'll sit down at the quiet gallery and sort out my pics properly.

I do want to say that all the normal looking people and above, I was able to strike up friendly conversations with everyone. "Hi, how's your night? I don't know you but we both have 5 minutes, lets talk." I met a lot of really nice people.

I'm on my way to the fucking exhibition now. Sigh. I wish I could just sleep and get a back massage.

PS. Oh Kinky desu ka gay erotic japanese art exhibition. Somewhere. Come. Its pretty empty with a lot of the artworks sold but yeah.

PPS. Bring the cute curator hot chocolate if you're coming today. God knows I need it.

So glad I didn't bother with the parade. Last year was my first and that was enough to last me a while.

Bring on the party next week! (Though I'm sure it won't have the same vibe without the parade before it)

oh hunny, leave The viewing sections of the streets for the straights. The poofs are either in the parade, watching from their residents, or skipping it all together. Never ever go to oxford st after the parade! always go to the mardi gras organised parties. Then you will have a fantastic time!

Went through the camera, sobered up and um:

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100228_mardigras01.jpg

These images were taken when we closed up the exhibition for the day, so around 7 o clock?

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100228_mardigras02.jpg

A lot of people already reserved themselves along the guardrail. The roads were blocked off and Oxford became this really long, singular erection.

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100228_mardigras03.jpg

I’d like to say that the entire crowd was there to support GLBT people and that the energy of the place aglow with enthusiasm and positivity but to be honest, a lot of the people were really just there for the spectacle of the event.

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100228_mardigras04.jpg

A lot of people brought chairs, stools, laid out cardboard and bits of newspaper were strewn all about to stake their view of the parade.

Sitting in the sun all day with the traffic *uncut*, the smoke and all that wasn’t really for us so we retreated back to my friend’s Oxford side house for a few beers.

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100228_mardigras06.jpg

It was a really pleasant Australian evening.

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100228_mardigras08.jpg

And before we knew it hours had passed and the parade was here.

Just one last puff before we set off.

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100228_mardigras11.jpg

I think this year’s Mardi Gras parade drew too large of a crowd. The streets were bursting with people. Getting a street level view of Oxford was impossible.

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100228_mardigras12.jpg

So people started to climb things. Dangerously so.

But that’s ok because there were oodles of buff police men there to protect us. Alcohol makes people think they can do things better so it’s always nice to have a sober authority. Laughable how deluded people can be, alcohol just makes you smarter and more articulate, not more physically able.

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100228_mardigras14.jpg

With the main street sides bursting at the seams we went around the back streets, alleyways and even past the Oh Kinky desu Ka gallery. I was very annoyed at how two bottles were left at our doorstep. The nerve!

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100228_mardigras15.jpg

The reason why were amongst all the disgusting, common, straight folk was because the parade is not the same unless you’re all squished up amongst the crowd. So we brought ladders since we live right there.

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100228_mardigras17.jpg

The rooftop. I noticed this other rooftop across the road from us that was hosing down water upon the street goers. So mean! I had great delight in laughing when it hit the bogans.

Oxford Street just before the parade started. I love this photo.

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100228_mardigras19.jpg

To travel from one block to another next to Oxford, you had to go through a sort of slippery slide ride. You went in and the stream of bodies just sort of pushed you through to the other side. You didn’t really have to move, just wait. It was fun.

This girl by my left arm seized this opportunity to completely grope, fondle and molest this cute guy directly in front of me. They were both very happy and laughed even more embarrassingly so when I bombarded them with, “ew, yuck, disgusting, dirty heteros, unnatural” comments. We had a gay ole laugh through the slippery slide ride of bodies.

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100228_mardigras20.jpg

Just a massive sea of people as far as the eye can see.

I think the vendors that sold pink stools, rainbow flags and glow sticks probably made an absolute killing in profit.

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100228_mardigras24.jpg

Today in Sydney, it was alright to be out, loud and proud. You could wave your little rainbow flag around and you could feel up hot slabs of man meat with absolute freedom. (If they reciprocated your erection)

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100228_mardigras25.jpg

People of all races, nationalities – straight or gay or transgendered – today the city was totally queer. And it was ok. It was cool actually.

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100228_mardigras26.jpg

People were out there, loud, maybe proud, drinking lots of alcohol and glowing with exuberance. Luckily there was a strong police presence. We were hassled by police and nearly arrested but looking back, I never thought they were homophobic. Just guardians doing their jobs and looking after the people.

Glad to read that some people had good experiences of the parade. My experience was the complete opposite. But then again, we arrived late so had to mingle with the drunk bogans til the streets were opened so we could get into Stonewall... Twas a very interesting 2 hours lol

^ C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER.

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100228_mardigras27.jpg

We spotted a gay, blue Na’Vi from Avatar. I wonder what kind of sex he has.

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100228_mardigras28.jpg

Can you spot the blue Na’Vi in this photo? The sunset and warm night was upon us. The Mardi Gras floats were about to come down on us.

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100228_mardigras29.jpg

So away from the crowd and the slippery slide of bodies ride we departed. Back up to our little nest with the view.

This was not covered on TV but there were fireworks. Is it just me or were these explosions of rainbowy colour especially gay? Just me? Ok…

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100228_mardigras31.jpg

The aftermath.

I didn’t, but I won’t ever wear open shoes to Mardi Gras. The amount of broken glass and ambulances treating people with bloody feet has put me off of sandals and a lot of clubbing patrons were turned away because of their open footwear.

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100228_mardigras32.jpg

With the parade over, we hit the bars. First, of course, because of the lovely SameSame, Mardi Bar! There was a massive queue getting in. I’ve found it really hard to locate Mardi Bar/Nevermore (because of the alcohol in my blood) so I always just look for the newsagency next to it.

http://mymothandi.com/wp-files/100228_mardigras33.jpg

Mardi Bar has a great patronage. Some obviously straight people but some really, really, really delicious guys. There was this nice, thick, Aussie guy about my height. I wonder if he reads this site. Thank you for talking to me if you do, Mr Isowantedtofuckyoubuthadtogofishdrunkfriendsfromth emidnightshift.

And yeah, I left Mardi Bar super early for not so nice things at the Midnight Shift. Sigh…

I need non-useless friends that can handle their fucking alcohol, not stack it and then cry to me over the mobile phone in a barely hear-able, drunken stupor. That Aussie guy! FUCK.
