View Full Version : What the hell is wrong with the boys?

bellsforher

OK, at risk of sounding sexist, the boys here are bitch-fighting yet again. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the ladies of SS seem to get along just fine!

Maybe I just don't understand men.

Do you think its an age thing? It seems there is a lot of passion about "which side I'm on". This tends to get worn down as the years take their toll. I think the women on this site have moved on from establishing their identity and so are less volatile.

Oh, haven't seen that. Which forum Bells? There are so many forums on this site my head spins.

I don't think straight men carry on like that, my brother is always complaining about women and their bitching!

well these days i'm too tired to sift through their endless paragraphs, so i wouldn't have a clue. hasn't asherbella left us though? and we have an occasional disagreement, but yeah, i think we're alright.

and totka, what do you mean by which side? do you mean when there's an argument, people take sides of the debate or..?

bellsforher
16th March 2010, 04:58 PM
oh...there's something in the Sydney thread about HIV...something about leaving us from Asherbella in the Chat and Gossip section.....

but it isn't just these couple of incidents. I've notice countless little and big spats on here from the boys over the years. Maybe women know when to leave well enough alone.

just_dance

I think here in the forums, we've switched roles a bit... The women are fine and the boys bitch! Lol. I'm not as active in the chat n gossip forum since I only post when I see something of interest to me but I noticed when I do, there's usually of it going on

Sorry, I meant which side of the argument people are on. Its not so much about the argument than it is about the identity attached to the opinion. "I'm an activist" or "I'm community minded", or "I'm an angry young man" or "I'm too cool to care". Its all very formative personality building work that most people get over during their adolescence.

trina2004
17th March 2010, 01:18 PM
Well bells the obvious answer is because girls are better than boys! :D

There's a lot more boys on this site too, which I guess increases the chances of personality clash and trolling amongst the men.

I've had the gag reflex on a couple of occasions http://i870.photobucket.com/albums/ab262/ItsAllInTheEyes/th_vomit.gif

The really gross stuff is fine if its well labeled and you can choose not to look at it. I dont wander into the Hot boys thread, or the cocks, willies and dicks thread for example.

I do find it a bit ...umm...disrespectful though with some of the highly graphic male porn stuff thats posted in topical threads. Hello, Lesso comin through  A little self moderation wouldn't go astray.

I am finding the ladies lounge rather comfy atm. You ladies are just so darn demure, eloquent, and Oh so..... mysterious ;) :D

i haven't been in there either, and i have this theory that there aren't actually any penis pics in there, it's just the boys waiting to see how long it takes for a lesbian to finally peer inside and discover the ruse.
they could be planning world domination in there and we wouldn't know.

Maybe sometimes we're a little non-confrontational and people pleasing.. Maybe we should be "more" confrontational. Nothing comes out of complacency. Frankly, there are things to be to confrontational about in the lesbian identity and our individual experience wihin this identity. Otherwise how can we understand each other as individuals.

Being so caught up in meeting people or "reaching out" we choose to compromise those things that are actually important to just "make friends". I know I did it, and others have as well.

I don't really know what to say, except that I'm interested to hear more of your point of view.

I don't know. I'm sure we could have a tits thread and a maturbation thread and a random hook-ups thread..but I just am not that interested. The stuff I wanna know as a lesbian, and about other lesbians, and the stuff I am interested in is not really, for the most part, about sex. Or at least...not in the graphic detail the men seem to be in to.

just_dance
30th March 2010, 01:30 AM
yup. thats exactly how i feel. thats why i like our little LL where we can make our threads and not have them hijacked by boys who wants to turn it into a slingfest! We don't need to comment on our lady parts every second post to affirm our femininity!

There was talk of making a girls only section of same same, but for some reason people (and I mean the girls!) started getting all offended by the idea of "segregation" as they put it. I didn't see it as segregation, but rather a place for the lesbians to get together and talk about girl stuff without feeling like we are playing in the boys playground. Then we pretty much had the conversation you guys just had above, that the girls just need to get more confrontational. But not all girls are like that, I wonder how many quiet girls we have here who read and don't post, who might open up on a girls only site?

Its not a matter of talkin sex constantly its a matter of being sex positive. Happy, if I were you I would question if my idea of "tasteful" or "sleaze" is conditioned by the heterosexual patriararical society. I believe queer and trans women no longer live within these boundaries (there are no rules) and can and "are" making up our own ideas of what sex, intimacy, porn and relationships are to them.

When I was 10 I had a scrapbook of pictures of women I had collected from perfume ads in women's weekly, and target underwear catalogs.

But I didn't realise it was a 'lesbian' thing until (at 11) I showed my friend.
That was not a fun year.

the reason i wasnt into is im opposed to separatism....cultural, class, gender and any other way society excludes people

i agree with what you say about quiet girls..and perhaps we could encourage more girls/women to join in if we had an exclusive site/forum..but i also think that alot of 'quiet' girls might be more threatened by an exclusive space..for example ive met alot of young women who when they come out, have surrounded themselves with gay men - their friends from high school etc and find the idea of going to a womens only club completely terrifying. ...they much prefer the company of gay men until they slowly (or fastly) meet more and more lesbians and then are empowered and not threatened.

i think we should never assume what different people might need to empower themselves, and sadly no one can really do any of this stuff for you but yourself.

im not convinced we need a women/girl only space - but i am convinced we need to post more confidently and as often as we can and this thing will evolve into the place we want it to be.

i also think what julesnox said is awesome - its so true - i constantly find myself toning down my opinions so i dont offend. its my personality, but i do admire the boys for being as gross - opinionated - sexual as they want to be. and like all forms of media..rather than censor it..just dont look if you dont want to.

god kids are cruel.....I don't know why your friend thought it susMy friend definitely thought something was sus, as did the whole class, and half the school. But I am assuming it was the scrapbook, it might not have been - I may have said something about our mutual friend who I had a crush on or something.

A brother and sister joined the class half way through the year, and by the time I met them that morning, they had already been told. While I was standing behind the girl chatting (obviously thinking about raping her) the brother gay panicked and attacked me from the side, bulldozing me into a brick wall while screaming "Get away from my sister you lesbian!".
