Bit quiet on here... *watches tumble-weed roll on by*

So what's everyone reading at the moment? :)

I'm slowly plodding through High Fidelity (http://www.amazon.com/High-Fidelity-Novel-Nick-Hornby/dp/1594481784/), but I'm not quite getting the fuss at this stage. Emo music geek whining about his abysmal personal life? What's that about? I enjoyed Nick Hornby's less well-received meditation on the nature of charity, How to Be Good (http://www.amazon.com/How-Be-Good-Nick-Hornby/dp/1573229326), a whole lot more... Thoughts?

I just finished "Loaded" by Christos Tsiolkas. The movie "Head On" with Alex Dimitriades was based on it. Now I'm reading "A Buddhist History of the West" for something completely different.

"Loaded" and "Holding the Man" were two landmark books of my high school days... :) It was good to revisit "Loaded" recently, with a slightly more well-rounded perspective on Ari's substance-fuelled emo rants. ;)

What's the gist of the Buddhist book?

i didn't like how they anglosised alot of the parts in the movie. the love interest in the book was his brother's friend and also greek so that really added to the "can't go there" aspect of the relationship.

really loved the book.

The ABC is going to screen an adaption of Christos Tsiolkas' book The Slap. Apparently screening later this year.

i'm currently reading The Book of Dragons. It's a collection of short stories about dragons. abit up and down - like short film sessions - if they are crap at least they are over quickly!

I've seen half of it.

walked out half way thru. it's just a rape film for women who like to see men suffer. it was very graphic and for no purpose really.

what did you think of it?
