So, I have decided to stop being a fat lazy slob, and actually get my arse into a gym.
I am too unco at present to do team sports, and I consider air conditioning to be an integral part of any form of physical activity, so you can see why I think a gym is the way to go.

I just decided to share this with you ladies in order to let you know what an awesome person I am. :D

Just kidding. Actually I'm wondering if anyone has any tips, advice, encouragement etc? I've decided to join the 24hr one so that I can go in the midde of the night when I'm awake and hopefully no-one else will be there! It wasn't that long ago that, due to several months of manual laboring jobs, I was quite fit and strong, but then along came university, a job at a fast food joint, and an operation that required me to refrain from lifting anythig heavier than 2L of milk for 8 weeks...and the end result is that I am pathetically weak atm.

I thought maybe writing this down, actually presenting this as a plan in a public (ish) place like the ladies lounge would help with the motivation aspect.

haha I'm the same with the motivation thing... I've put on a lot of weight in the recent months and I want to get rid of it... It's just so hard to get motivated! Especially since I'm not working right now. Its hard to do anything when I have no routine.

I used to keep fit by dancing 6 days a week. cant do that any more so i usually just go for walks... i like air conditioning too... it makes it easier to exercise!! lol

I'll be up for a good while yet... I'm struggling to calm down after getting into a rage over a dickhead who is using a good friend of mine. Would be much easier if i had access to a punching bag... preferreably I'd like to punch the guy who is doing this!! (I'm struggling just to write this calmly! lol)

How come you can't dance anymore, if you don't mind me asking?

sorry to hear about your friend, feel free to vent on here! I don't sleep well at night, so I usually go to bed around 430am, sleep till 1 or 2.

I cant speak about it or ill get angry again and im starting too cool off a little. if i talk about it i will cry or scream or start punching things unfortunately. just know he is a truly foul and the worst kind of arsehole ever to ever walk the earth and she is still giving him chances.

i stopped the competition dancing cos i couldnt afford it, and without the comp dancing im just not interested enough. i still teach same sex classes on tuesdays but thats cos i cant get out of it. sometimes its ok but i usually just grind my teeth the whole time.

my sleeping pattern gets screwed pretty easily. ive been going to bed early lately but i havent been sleeping well anyway so i guess it doesnt matter if i stay up or not. i like going to bed at like 3-4am and sleeping thru the day tho. means i can catch up with my english friends!

lol I wish I had that excuse, I'm just strange. I love waking up in the afternoon and I find the most relaxing sleep I can ever get is during the day. Means the rest of the day is stressful though as I try to fit everything I have to do into the remaining daylight hours!

i suggest getting a gym buddy- someone to whine and moan to about going, and go with.

i hope you do better than i did!

Baby
27th March 2010, 12:41 PM
I'm a gym instructor, any questions feel free to ask.

Some tips: if you're really unfit, start out with some light cardio to begin with. Don't push yourself too hard to start out, otherwise you'll just end up sore and won't want to go back.

Next get into some weights. See if you can get someone at the gym to write you a program or at least show you some exercises. I can write you a program, but you'll need someone to show you how to do the exercises or you can injure yourself doing them wrong. Some gyms will help you for free but others make you hire a trainer.

If you have classes, you might want to try some. They are scary at first, though if you can get a friend to go with you not so bad. If you go alone, you will usually make friends once you go regularly anyway. The gym is a great place to meet friends.

Now most important. If the aerobics instructor is female and hot: RUN!! RUN FAST, RUN HARD, GET THE HELL AWAY FROM THAT CRAZY BITCH!!!

Sorry, I had a psychotic episode. Sara knows what I'm talking about.

In short - start with cardio. Get some help to do weights. Join some classes. Stay the hell away from crazy ass lezzo instructors. That is all.

I find that if I establish a routine it all works out fine. But if I find an excuse to get out of it one day, I am back to my lazy self for a couple of months
so my suggestion is try to establish a routine - even better if with a friend so you can motivate each other (ie. force each other to go to the gym) when you feel like giving up
good luck xD

I guess the best thing to do is to just try and squeeze a workout or any exercise in whenever you can. It is also best to do something you enjoy. Cardio and weights should be used in any program. The benefits are lifelong. I have to exercise, or I get depressed and don't sleep well.

I can also recommend getting a personal trainer and documenting your results. The trainer is excellent motivation and can show you and ensure you have correct form when lifting or performing an exercise.

Good luck with your training pursuits everyone. Hopefully you can find yourself a training buddy to motivate each other and make each other exercise.

I can be pretty uncoordinated at times and I still enjoyed Karate and Kick Boxing, but from what I observed the other day I'm going to try Wing Chun next week. It is crafted for close up combat, which I think is better for self defence and was apparently invented by a woman (Ng Mui and Yim Wing Chun - varies on what oral history you read). It also uses some useful block and punch/strike at the same time type of defences that I've never come across before. Looks interesting and I'm keen to try it out.

can't remember sorry cause I didnt pay! parents did. Lol I agree with christine yang. my girl is older than me n that's the way I like it.

and teenage girls, Im sorry, but a huge majority of them are just plain boring! I try to make the effort to talk to them at work cause I wokr with a lot but their petty dramas and the way they feel the need to list how many drinks they have and how many guys chase them on a saturday night just bores me to tears.

ahhk, fair enough. yeah, i'd only go for my age or older. i'm second year uni, would never date a high schooler, even though it's only two years off. and i'd hesitate to date one year younger. i need a world weary companion =P

trina2004
26th April 2010, 10:07 PM
yeah I saw u posted in the need a hug thread- everything ok? uni work gets me down sometimes too. I'm 3rd year. I have a major (45%) assignment due on wednesday n my group ( its a group work one) is being quite slack and 'we'll get around to it tomorrow' and its shitting me off.

Lol@ the world weary bit.

Not all older girls are world weary pho! I have dated a younger girl and it didnt work out, mostly cause she was crazy:D

pho3nixphir3

everything's ok, just i really don't understand the project- i don't even know whether i'm supposed to be physically drawing the object, or replicating it in a 3d program on the computer. and it's the long weekend, and we already had a two week extension, and i had a break last week, and i really haven't done anything except dug up lego pieces xDD. i freaking hate group work, lucky we haven't had much of it now.

your situation sounds like my friends- they're doing a project designed for 6 people, two people dropped out of the course, then a third- who never did any work anyway. it's just her and this other girl working, and the international student who...does little and contributes nothing.

like, she only sent in her work on the morning it was due, and my friend and the other girl had already done up her work and submitted it. and they tried to ask the tutor if they could do less or something like that, since it was half the people it was designed for, but no, she was like, it'll be easier now with less people.

i know i'm fresh in the big world, but i do feel world weary, just like my other friend.

crazy bad? crazy how? crazy burn all your things and dance on the ashes?

crazy bad? crazy how? crazy burn all your things and dance on the ashes?

Sorry 2hear about ur assignment, just comfort yourself with the fact that ill all be over soon.

umm no crazy like "I like you. wait, no I dont. wait no I do. wait I love you. I mean No i don't i think we should break up. I mean, lets get back together cause I do love you."

and by that point I'd had enough. its all in the past now n were friends but she keeps up with the antics. and doesnt have a backbone anymore. Like if i say to her 'that was annoying' later on i get a message begging for forgiveness and saying what a shit person she is. but she never changes.

I didnt mean it in a patronising way- god knows I hate it when people are like 'oh, well you're only 21, what do you know'.

nono, i didn't take it that way, i just know that it sounds pretentious coming from a young person, when they feel the weight of the world on their shoulders. which i don't- i'm thoroughly irresponsible =D.

yeah, age is becoming less of an indication of experience- you have some really developed, responsible and adjusted young people, and pathetically immature adults.

trina2004
26th April 2010, 11:02 PM

I know you're a nice girl. If you were as horrible as you pretend it would shine through even on forums.

Hey, I work at a fast food resteraunt- I hate the general public and would gladly never mix with them again:D

Thanks pho:) we do have good chats.hey. I love samesame, it's like my online home.
Its so relaxed most of the time and you get to know more about other people than just what they like/are looking for sexually.

=P.

ooh, where do you work? i'm just starting at this sandwich place, so my exposure to the general public will be greatly increased. hoorah. haha, customer service does that to you =P.

i'm liking it at the moment now, there's a few things to comment on and several people on. yeah, it's good that we can talk about anything, and just let it all out- but not without a knock back if we're too much of an arsehole!

yeah, i can imagine. i went to one in blacktown...do you know? it's known for being kinda trashy and full of 'gangsters'- kids with nothing better to do. it. was. FILTHY. fries on the glass wall. a burger torn to bits on the ground. trash everywhere. bins exploding. and the serving lady looked like she'd had ten shifts too many, poor thing.

my friend told me that due to the structure of a female body, and the fat placement- our hips n stuff, that a girl doing girly pushups is the same as a guy doing toe ones. but i always feel that it's cheating to do girly ones, and i've always done toe pushups.

the most i've ever done is...26? 27? probably 26.

trina, i love your disclaimers

I had a plan to start doing push ups after my jogs. I started at 20 and meant to add 1 per day. I did it for four days and then forgot about it. Should really take it up again because I always lose thumb wars.

if you want to win thumb wars you should learn piano. that gives you strong fingers.

I'd be the most committed thumb warrior in the world if I took up piano for that reason, lol. I'll probably just stick to surreptitiously tickling my opponent and drowning out their protests with cries of VICTORY.

I thought maybe writing this down, actually presenting this as a plan in a public (ish) place like the ladies lounge would help with the motivation aspect.

i really recommend a personal trainer. even if you just use one a few times, they're great. i was in the same boat as you a month ago. now i'm going to the gym a few times a week and seeing a personal trainer once a week. she makes me do all the things that i would *never* do on my own and she really pushes me. one thing i've really gotten out of it so far is how to use different equipment and what different exercises i can do to target different muscle groups. plus, i love my trainer and working out with her is actually fun! sometimes i collapse laughing (usually because i'm useless at something).

yeah I saw one my first few times to get used to it all, this guy, he was pretty nice.
I'm just going through a low motivation phase I think. All i wanna do is sleep!
