I heard a great piece of radio this morning - I just got the end of it But Steve Price (of 2ue) had called in and told Kyle & Jackie O that they were promoting bad ideas in their New comp that is about to start "the Ugly Fugitive" - he was going on about Anorexia, Bulimia etc.
Love him or hate him Kyle says what he thinks and said words to the effect of the reason why FM is listen to more is that AM is all old people who invent hysteria and created Political Correctness and has cause a lot of people to stop communication all together. I have to say the idea PC to me is absurd ! I find that it is politically incorrect for someone to tell me what to say ! MUTE ISSUE as far as I am concerned. Harsh words are harsh to provide and poignant way of expressing oneself. ... I say Fuck when I slam my finger in drawer 'cause it is an extreme situation. I don't have to worry about who else hears it !
Another point about AM TALK BACK ....
I was in hospital for 24hrs last year and there was a man in his 70's in the bed next to me - He was in for the flu but also was obviously quite depressed. Almost every conversations i overheard him have was about negative issues constantly addressed on 2GB. They are soo high & mighty on that station and profess to give you the news but I can telli you it is VERY destructive to a lot of peoples happiness. As I was leaving I had a quick chat to this gentleman's wife and I told her that she should really try to get her husband interested in something else rather than obsessing with the - Traffic tunnel smog or the price of meat & the quality of service ... These People should be enjoying the twilight years - the biggest thing issue should be ... where to next.
Between my friends we call each other all kinds of nasty names in jest ... People around us that hear these things are always shocked when we are in public ... I have even had total strangers say to me " You shouldn't say that!"
Give me a brake ... I saw on tv the other day a uni prof saying that PC is forcing Australian's to loose their "larrikin-ness"
