CAN a woman wearing skinny jeans be raped? Or are they so tight they can be taken off only with her consent?

These are some of the questions a jury asked before acquitting a Sydney man of sexual assault.

yeah it would be funny if it was just some jackarse trying and failing to use it as an excuse, but the fact that he was actually acquitted of rape because she was wearing tight clothes is pretty terrible!

well on the kind-of-bright-side? it is possible the jury were right and she was lying

But women rarely lie about rape. Almost never. They just don't get believed because the lawyers badger them about irrelevant issues like "how did he get your jeans off?" until they say something that seems inconsistent or implausible, and once an inconsistency arises, the defence will use it to show that she must be a liar. Happens all the time. Getting a rapist off is all about discrediting the victim.

I've heard that one before, a taxi driver raped a girl and was acquitted because her jeans were so tight he mustn't have been able to get them off. One journalist made the good point that if a woman takes them off herself because she's being held at knifepoint, that is not consent.

This is so disgusting.

ANGRY!

People are so insensitive, and we let them decide what sentence fits...

(studying justice at the moment, so I have a lot to be angry about)

Happy to be me

Thats fuckin bullshit rape is rape no matter wat your wearing! If I was raped I'd doubt it'd make it to court before I murdered the arsehole but if a girl wants to look hot it doesnt mean she's necessarily easy or anything so fuck off and have a wank while she gets drunk and has a good time without you ruining her night/life!

Do you guys remember when this happened in Italy in 1999? A girl got raped by her driving instructor and he was found not guilty by the jury on the basis that she was wearing jeans! I remember all the female members of parliament in the next sitting wore their jeans and helped up signs about consent.

is it really impossible for him to sit on her torso and force them off? jeez.

Yeah and if he holds a knife to her and says 'take off your jeans' is it not rape because she did it?
