I don't listen to the radio. My favourite way to discover new music is from friends, but the days of giving people mix tapes seem to have long since passed. Sadly.

So let us exchange mix tapes, and rock one another's worlds.

Here's mine. It's a mixture of the sublime and the gritty:

Beach House - 10 mile stereo
PJ Harvey - To bring you my love
Fever Ray - Dry and dusty
Cibo Matto - Artichoke
Wildbirds and Peacedrums - The battle in water
Joanna Newsom - Autumn

Btw, I have one rule - if somebody's mix tape actually does rock your world, be kind and recommend them something in return.

The Death & the maiden video was hilarious. Now I feel like hopping everywhere. I hadn't heard of Electrelane before, so thanks for that.

I love Fever Ray, I think maybe even more than The Knife, although I haven't heard the new Knife album yet. Maybe it depends on mood - Fever Ray when melancholy, The Knife when manic. Thoughts? Karin Dreijer Andersson is amazing either way.

Also, I thought of the perfect theme song for this thread.

I think I like Fever Ray even more than The Knife also - although, I didn't know they had a new album. Exciting!

Yeah, I thoroughly recommend Electrelane. They are one of my favourite bands, definately in the top 5.

Yeah, I think it came out a month or two ago, but I have avoided listening to it because apparently it is an opera that they made in collaboration with somebody else. I think an opera created by The Knife has the potential to be mindblowingly amazing... but I'm also afraid it might be a trainwreck and that would make me sad.

Maybe you can canary it for me, lol ;)

Ooh, so much of this is foreign country to me. I shall investigate and report back.
