Rape-aXe condom with 'teeth' to fight rape

A DOCTOR in South Africa has invented a female condom lined with teeth-like hooks and is handing them out at World Cup venues.

Dr Sonnet Ehlers sold her home and car to develop the female condom known as Rape-aXe in 2005. The condoms will be available after the trial period for about $2 each.

The woman inserts the latex condom like a tampon and the jagged rows of hooks which line its inside attach on a man’s penis during penetration.

Once attached, only a doctor can remove the Rape-aXe and Dr Ehlers hopes this will allow authorities to easily make arrests.

"It hurts, he cannot pee and walk when it's on," she said.

"If he tries to remove it, it will clasp even tighter... however, it doesn't break the skin, and there's no danger of fluid exposure.

"I consulted engineers, gynecologists and psychologists to help in the design and make sure it was safe."

Critics say the female condom is not a long-term solution and makes women vulnerable to more violence from men trapped by the device.

Victoria Kajja, a fellow for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Uganda, also said the device constantly reminded women of their vulnerability.

"It not only presents the victim with a false sense of security, but psychological trauma," she said.

"It also does not help with the psychological problems that manifest after assaults."

A report last year by the nation's Medical Research Council found that 28 percent of men surveyed had raped a woman or girl, with one in 20 saying they had raped in the past year.

In most African countries, rape convictions are not common as the DNA tests to provide evidence are unaffordable.

Dr Ehlers plans to distribute 30,000 free devices under supervision during the World Cup period.

So what happens when a guy tries to rape a girl, gets that thing chewing on his dick then beats her to death?

Good work Dr.

i can't decide if this is a good idea or not. i mean it's basically a modern chastity belt.

I thought vaginas had teeth anyway? NOM.yes.
yes they do.

it's supposedly so painful that it gives the woman a chance to escape.

They are being distributed at the world cup of soccer.

The athletes at the Sydney olympics got condoms distributed to them as well. (i'm not sure why, that kind of DNA interbreeding is a Aryans dream).

But it seems that for the world cup it's to protect the female fans from sexual assault.

...might be useful for the NRL and AFL to distribute these maybe?

This just put me in a really bad mood! How ridiculous that women have to even consider this sort of stuff. How about we just make being in public safer for women???

How do you plan on doing that in places like South Africa?

Don't know Jimmy, but, it would have to involve a lot more than a jagged vaginal insert. It would probably also require a major shift in how we percieve and treat women on a global scale. I know its a long term option, but, somehow I think it would be a lot more succesful than a vagina full of barbs.
