ok so it's taken me till my 21st year on this earth to finally accept that i'm gay and i'm a bit stuck as to what to do next! I've told a few close friends but that's it. They want to take me for a night out on the town in Melbourne but I'm not sure what to do next, do I get myself out there?

yay lem!!! congratulations =D
I reckon go for it and get yourself out there, but also take it at a pace you're comfortable with. A night out in melbs sounds like fun though, no matter what side of the fence you're on.

thanks, it's sure to be an experience and I think I'm ready for it. Why sit around waiting I figure? Nothing is going to be as comfortable as you'd like it to be, especially the things you really want.

very good point. I guess it's a bit like starting high school. you may well find yourself embarrassed at some point, but everyone goes through it, and for the most part, it's all a big laugh. only in this case you have the advantage of not being mandated by the government to go, and alcohol is more likely to be involved :p

Celebrate! You have achieved a major milestone. One that a lot of people never have the opportunity, support or courage to reach. Congratulations and welcome to the club :)

hi lem :) Just wanna say congratulations..hope your journey will be full of excitement and gay times, but even when the road is rough...you know you'll always have our support :)
I think just do what you feels right but if you want to venture down and check out the gay scene or just to expand your new gay friends then let me know. I have adopted some newbies under my wings so the first experience isn't too daunting/intimidating lol. You'd get to meet some nice girls to hang out and have group of girls going in together. http://www.samesame.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=17044
Big hugs :D

Firstly, congrats! As terrifying as it is, coming out is incredibly liberating! I wrote an article about it for a magazine, so for me, once it was out there, it was out there!!
Just ease yourself into it and have a ball :)

Thanks paxie, I'll take that in to consideration. I'm sure you've helped many people by organising these sorts of things
Gemcourage, I admire your approach to coming out, that must have been an experience!

Haha yes it was! It was for the youth issue of LOTL (the one with Peaches on the cover) ;) I got some great feedback from friends and strangers so it was great!
