you might try firing Matt a private message (http://www.samesame.com.au/people/BBOFOZ1/messages/create/?toUser=25622) about your Bowlo club bash, and he might add it to the what's on stuff

I would love to read an indepth piece from someone about the day to day life of a gay guy living in the country. Someone who is okay with it and talks about the ups and downs of being gay in a small/medium rural/regional town.

Ok guru I have always been out n not ashamed of it since the mid 60's when i was in the army a viet vet 2 tours here I never had any problems with to me if others did that was always their problem. I did my job got along with everyone came back a drunk and mixed up took me thirty yrs to get past vietnam but i did with help.
As to day to day I volunteer for 2 local veterans groups who are behind me 100% they all kno i am gay we shyack around together they make some comment i reply if i wanted to get off with a 60 yr old i can always stand in front of a mirror lol but i love my volunteer work helping others gives me a sense of worth and I suppose it enriches me I always think I get more out of it than the organisations I work with. Plus I volunteer with my local ACON office when and where I can and can be of use to them as well which isn't all that often but hey horses for courses. I can honestly say I have never to my knowledge experienced discrimination face 2 face maybe because I have always let it be known accept or be damned is my attitude, I do not believe in tolerance I take tolerance as a put down, as I said accept or be damned is my motto I have lived by. However I understand also that that attitude is not for all people to adopt either.
Today I cooked Thai Chicken n Vegetable soup for one of my groups for lunch plus salad n rolls other days for the same group I will go in an edit/layout our next 30 page A4 newsletter which I can also work on at home from time to time.
that's all for now don't want 2 hog the site. It maybe tomorrow i come back it maybe two weeks who knows but thanks for the interest. On a closing note gay does not define me as a person that is just one facet of me I like m2m sex that's all and believe me so do more than the perceived percentages say lol

Thanks for that. A great perspective. I'm really impressed about the volunteer work. You're out there doing it - not sitting at home complaining.
About the Vietnam thing - I'm really sorry you had to go through that - whether you wanted to go or not - well, just thanks from another Australian for doing the hard yards.

thanks for sharing that =)
I get that the admin might not get every town listed, but at least some more regions would be nice. south coast, central coast, mid north coast, north coast/ northern rivers and western would be good for NSW. QLDers might like a regional SEQ and a FNQ section. are there any other states? xD
