Does this always happen?
It happened in a relationship I had a few years ago. It wasn't so much the sex I missed but the intimacy. Other relationships have been fine though.
I'm lying about not missing the sex.

*shrug* I think it's nothing to do with being lesbian - some relationships do that, no matter the gender of parties involved.

Personally, I think it's a matter of not having been compatible in the first place. The initial thrill of it masks that but after it wears off, the true nature of things becomes clear... maybe?
I certainly don't think it's always the case though.

it happened to me when i was on the pill.... don't go on the pill anyone...

seconded that: don't go on the pill! the side-effects of messing chemically with your hormone balance can be nasty and can go on for years.

i think doctors can be way too trigger happy prescribing the pill. everyone i know who has been on it has lost a lot of energy from it, and found that their moods are not normal - just flatter than usual. i was on it for five years and it didn't even realise how it affected me, until i went off it and suddenly my energy levels shot up. then i was very cross that i missed out on so much over the years.

i've been speaking to my doc about going on the pill, one that has no placebo pill, to stop my period for medical reasons

have you considered other options tats? that is very likely to mess up your system

the problem is i have an issue actually going into medical places (PTSD), so i've been talking to be GP (who is 4hrs north of brisbane) via phone, and we've deduced this is probably the easiest option.
and what do you mean mess my system? what sort of messing?

I think LDB is a myth. This happens to (some) couples regardless of gender.
I am in year 4 of a relationship when it should be kicking in but we seem to be avoiding (I think) through good communication and as Tali says compatibility.
LDB (Lesbian Death Breath) is totally real and comes from too much garlic sauce on kebabs.

Lesbian Death Breath. xD Don't come near me when I've eaten onions!
I can't answer your question since I haven't been with a woman...for more that one night...yet.
I'm on the pill, not really sure why anymore since it's unlikely I'll get pregnant at the moment.

messing like, hormonal swings, feeling bloated, weight gain, taking possibly years to re-normalise... and how would that help with ptsd anyway?

i'm sure faerie knows more than me, since she's a midwife... but speaking from personal experience only, it affected my mood and my libido a lot. I didn't notice any other side-effects, although apparently it can mess with your weight - i did put on weight at times while i was on it, but then again i was eating happily and hugely, so not sure i can really blame the pill... if you think you need to be on it, ask about all the known side-effects and try to get the type of pill that will be least intrusive on your body. they have all different types, so it one is no good for you, try a different one.

no, it's my only option because my doc is going to prescribe over the phone and fax my prescription to the chemist, my other options involve going into a hospital, and i cant do it.
i'm doing it because of my broken pelvis, the pain in my hips and pelvis incapacitates me

jesus tats... how do you have sex with a broken pelvis?
i've been on the pill for a while. i guess i have not noticed any obvious side effects. i find it necessary as my periods would incapacitate me for two days with vomiting and migraines. thats every month! which meant i kept missing school. so this is what was suggested and its worked well for me, i only have a period every 3 months and they are much less aggressive. but i probably wouldnt recommend it. i will have to stop taking it very soon as otherwise i could increase my risk of breast cancer by like 50% or something, because my mum had it. and yeah it probably does mess with your system. for me there wasn't another option. maybe its ok to take it in the short term for tatsuya if its just to relieve the pain from a broken pelvis. a broken pelvis, shit woman. you poor thing.

as for LBD, its a myth. i dont think its exclusives to lesbians either. lack of libido or sexual attraction is always indicative of a deeper problem. besides, you think just cos a couple is heterosexual that means they have wild sex every day? lesbian sex is simply examined more closely because it's less talked about and more "taboo". if you're not having sex with your gf you cant blame it on lesbian bed death. you wont get out of discussing the relationship that easy.

what about a progesterone implant?
faeriegoddess
10th August 2010, 04:04 PM
oh gosh, an implant is even worse. and Drs are notorious for not disclosing risk of side effects - some studies show many Drs who prescribe these things don't even know the full range of risks themselves.
and there are alternatives outside of western medicine/ Drs.
marisol88

those implants are such a bad idea! the risks arent even known yet. they are basically still testing them by putting them in and seeing what happens lol. plus they dont always stop your period.

I'm already treating people who are having side-effects.
I am constantly seeing women who have bad side-effects, sometimes horrific ones from birth-control stuff (even when prescribed for other reasons), usually they were never informed of potential risks. Please, at least do the best you can to find out the potential risks, even if it means googling "<drug name> danger/warning/ side-effects", before starting on any treatment. Don't just rely on the Dr to tell you. IME, most of the time, they don't.
