What to do in Melb...

I'm Heading to melb in 3 weeks... I just want to know what there is for a gay boy to do there? i.e what clubs are the best, whats sights have to be seen etc? Thanks in advance :cool:

The Peel in Collingwood is quite a popular club. It's now famous for having won the right to ban straight people. There are plenty of yuppie places on Commercial Road, too. Xchange and the Market are popular hangouts in that area.

awesome thanks! are they all in or around the CBD? which club would be the best for the more dance/house music? and what times are they open til? cheers :)

For dance and house music I'd suggest Market on Friday or Saturday night, Love Machine or possibly Valve on a Sunday nigh, all in the Commercial Rd/Prahran area.

They're about 10 minutes south east of the CBD and The Peel is on Wellington St in Collingwood about 5 minutes north of the CBD.

Noone goes out in the CBD here i have found - its a bit blah after dark

depends what you want to do. The CBD has some really good clubs if you're into serious music ;)

i saw the website for the market, that club looks pretty amazing, so i think ill spend my sat night/morning there :) hopefully i can drag the boys with me... theyre a bit iffy about gay clubs ever since an 'incident' that happened at arq one night... LOL

The Market is a top club if you're into the more commercial end of house music. As mikee said there are a bunch of cool clubs in the city, but none of them are particularly gay. I think the Peel is a slightly more diverse crowd than The Market, but then i only went back when they let chicks in so i don't know what it's like now. I'd probably stick with Prahran if you want a particularly gay night - there are a couple of other bars along Commercial Rd that could be nice for a drink.

The Market do laser's later in the night when they get into the trancey stuff ;)
