View Full Version : Friendship dilema

I have a dilemma with one of my friendships at th e moment.

I'm having a huge argument with a girl who is the "leader of the pack" with a certain group of friends.

I don't particularly want to be friends with her as I'm beginning to find her irksome, but if I lose her as a friend, I will also have to let go of a large social circle that she introduced me 2.

Do I shut my mouth and continue to enjoy the benefits of her social circle? Or do I keep my pride, drop the friendship and all the others along with it? It's quite irritating because she does the same thing to me as she does to others. Part of the reason she is a leader I spose.

What do I do?

Keep your Pride !

if the others stop talking to you just because she says , they are not friends and not worth it.

Definitely have to agree with this! She may have introduced you to the circle of friends, but if they've truely become your friend, then it shouldn't matter whether or not this 'leader' is your friend or not.

I have friends who have had their issues and haven't spoken to eachother since. But thats between them and not me, so why should their issues affect me? Least thats what I hope your other friends will be thinking...

I think people confuse leadership with ego or selfishness in these situations. I've got a friend who usually won't come out unless he chooses the venue. Or once we're out he'll decide he wants to go elsewhere. There's a feeling that everyone should follow but most of us just stick to our own plans without it causing any tension.
Can you confide in one of the other friends and get some feedback? Of course the risk there is it will get back to the 'leader'. If that's the case then I'd say it's really time to move on from them.

do you hang out with your mutual friends alone - without the rest of the circle and without her?

you should do that.

then as you drift or move away from this person, your relationships with your mutual friends will still exist in their own right.
