It occurred to me this afternoon that I haven't seen or heard of a "Trance night" in Sydney for aaaaaages and I REALLY noticed the lack of trance being played anywhere at the Mardi Gras party!
What has happened? Does no one like it anymore or am I just missing the trance bus each time it comes round?

trance is like the ugly uncle who comes to your family bbq's, gets drunk and perves at your sister..
mind you, brisbane is currently the place where breaks go to die..

Trance is the most dated form of music around.
You need way too many drugs just to start half enjoying trance.

i don't like trance but please - this is a tad harsh guys!
keep an eye on the ruby website - www.rubydance.com.au , head along to toybox next time it's on... as for trance at the mardi gras party - that was pretty much a response to toybox going head to head against their party - why try and cater to trance when they were already potentially losing 7000 people out of their party to the big trance toybox party the next day?

sorry, was a little harsh.. :)
but trance is one of those genere's that has been around for years and had its time.. people are kind of over it and looking for something new
House is struggling on, thanks to those inventive french people, but is facing a similar fate in the future.. although artists like Black Strobe and London Elektricity are feeding some much needed new blood into it..

personally i like sebastian leger and luke dzierzek for house. for a while i was totally seduced by trance and used to enjoy armin van buuren's radio sets. that phase quickly passed and now i'm into booka shade and audiofly and klaas from germany.
keep it dirty or keep it real. trance is for pole dancing and electro house is for fist f**king. which one will you take home tonight?

Thanks for the info TD - I have never been to a Toybox so I didn't know it was a big trance party...
As for it being dated and needing drugs to enjoy it - I disagree. I often listen to Trance on my Ipod while I'm at work... Armin Van Buerin, 4 Strings, Blank & Jones... it just puts me in a great mood!! I do like house, and I love some good Electro but Breaks - hate it.
Loads of my friends love it and go and see heaps of breaks DJ's at Chinese Laundry etc and I've tried to enjoy it- but It just ain't my thing! I am nearly 30 though - I guess I'm just too old for this new hip-happening music that the youngsters are into these days... :P

ummm.. im 31 this year..
if you still enjoy trance then go for it, but just realise it is an old genre, and as such your not going to find many places playing it.
Breaks tends to be "harder" in sound than trance or house.. maybe thats it?
