Where do you buy them and what brands do you choose?
I generally go to Myer or David Jones, but for the money they are mostly crap. I bought Industrie shirts at two different times and the second lot were much worse than the first. Both were quite cheap, creased easily, faded quickly, the buttons weren't stitched on properly and were difficult to iron. I bought some Ben Sherman shirts last time which fitted better and didn't crease as easily. They don't seem to have much of a variety though. Brooksfield look the nicest of the lot, but arm length is a problem.

Tailor made. Its cheaper than you think and you get to choose the fabric, buttons, collar etc. Lots of bespoke places popping up in town, they usually outsource to Asia, so an even cheaper option is to take your own measurements and then send them to a tailor that someone can reccomend for you OS. Even with postage and handling its waaay cheaper and still better quality than most designer crud you pay a fortune here for.
Or, just go shirtless...

I look in Myer mainly or one of the other malls.
Last year got a couple of Rodd and Gunn shirts as I prefer plain colours rather than
stripes/dots etc and quality seems quite good and decent price if on sale.

I quite like Counrty Road i find they have better quailty than some of the other brands you find in a department stores.
And i really wanna splurge I end up going Authur Galan or Calibre. Their shirts start about $150 upwards but the cut and fit of the shirt is second to none.

Business shirts are the bane of my work day. They either fit me in the body with sleeves that barely go past my elbows or are long enough for my arms and I could invite a few friends in to fill out the rest. And don't start me on neck sizes - it's just lucky I rarely have to wear a tie.
I tried Industrie too. Lovely shirts until you've had them on for 5 seconds after which they look like they're never seen an iron.
I think I'll take the Bearer family advice and start going to work shirtless.

I get shirts, suits and jeans made through a website makeyourownjeans.com brilliant as the fabric quality is good, made to your measurements, and is very very well priced. They even make replicas of old clothing.yes it does take 14-21 days to receive them in the mail, but I now have corned no one else has, and at a fraction of the cost.

Totka is right. Bespoke are not as expensive as most people believe. The fit and quality of the shirts are better than the pre-made ready to wear and you can have them made to suit your own style needs.

My budget doesn't allow me to spend that much money on those expensive shirts. Online shopping can save some money and gives you a wider range of choices but the thing is you can't try it on before you make the decision to buy it. What if it's too large or too small?

personally i dont wear shirts
i dont wear watches
i prefer "bum" dressing. this way no one can rank me on the spectrum of wealth
i dont wear any obvious brands and definately do not plaster my chest with nasty logos like HENLEYS or ABERCROMBIE or GAP or ARMANI.
I dont even buy the gucci re/green stripes or the bally red/white stripes. i find then as boganish as the logo itself.

I like the European-fit Van Heusen shirts, tighter but more flattering than the classic fit.
Try online shopping from the US, I get mine at almost half the price (including shipping) than I get from Myer.
And there's a Same Samer here who sells overpriced clothes (I shall not name who).

My only concern with buying from overseas is sizing, more importantly arm length. I will check out Marky's suggestion today at lunch. I've seen a few menswear places near Wynyard that have sales, but never heard of these places before. Brand name means nothing to me as long as they are nice quality shirts, fit well and reasonably priced.

I like my shirts fitted and have always found certain brands just look like i am wearing a cotton balloon (Country Road is notoriously "boxy"). I have some lovely shirts I bought from MARCS and the late Morrisey (why did they have to go out of business!). There is also an excellent range of fitted and high quality business shirts at Val Parks (stores in Pitt Street, Market Street, York Street and Elizabeth Street). They are Egyptian cotton, don't crease badly when sitting in them all day, and you can get them in a fitted/tapered shape rather than the "I have a beer belly to hide" box.
I should add that I have a preference for French cuffs and they cater to that taste

Absolutely! I am a lawyer and always wear them to Court with my suit jacket - the arms will be slightly longer than the end of the suit so you should have a small amout (including sometimes the cuff-link) peaking out...hence you can wear pretty cuff-links :-)

I do actually (plus a few generic ones). I have a set my grandfather (deceased) wore at his wedding, a set my sister bought me from the Museum of Metropolitan Art in New York when she moved to the USA to study, and a set my father wore to his University Graduation, and a set I was bought on my 21st birthday (at which time I had nothing to wear them with or for).
I find cuff-links a classy way to touch up the boring suits we have to wear (other than the tie which lets a little creative flair). I don't have any Victory Links...although that is a fun idea LOL.
@LB - I don't think that would work...they might fall out...

When I worked at Westmead Hospital you could always pick the surgeons because they wore bow ties. Could never figure out why. The only reason I could come up with was so that the tie didn't dangle in the wound when they were operating, but that didn't work because they don't wear their street clothes when operating.
Eventually I decided it was because they were wankers.

Buy them at sales. Go to an upmarket shop first and get professionally measured. Buy lots of shirts and wear one each day while rotating them . Wear and wash and iron them as less as possible. As you're young, no one expects you to wear very expensive shirts.

Shirtless is good.
I buy from the national shirt co now and they're cheap and great quality. Briony is awesome too but $$$$. Rhodes are good too...

It is not necessary that how many business shirts you have. The main thing is that you have the one and your taste is good.

There are many online stores where you can buy men's business shirts. Some of the stores even provide the facility to customize your shirt at your own.

I here you Husky D. My girlfriend ask me a few weeks back to buy her dad a present for his birthday. My initial thought was to buy anything but business shirts. I mean who wants to be reminded of work on their birthday anyway???
However, his wife said "no just buy him some business shirts, he'll like that". After scouting round for ages, been horrified by the price of many of the color patterns of the cheaper ones and never having bought in my life, I decided to shop online. Anyway, I found Gazman's store online, with three business shirts for $150.
Received them in the post yesterday and the qualities really great!
I would definitely recommend...nice purchase and pretty painless.

I only have one business shirt, I use it for job interviews, court appearances and funerals for people I don't really care about.
It is better to wear business shirts as they really shape your body physique and describe what you are.
