I was thinking, as there seems to be a few people wanting to meet people, why don;t people have a meet up at fair day? That way, it's in a safe place, both coz it's in public, plus it's fair day so you can be who you are without worrying.... Thoughts?

Hey man,
I think it's Albany on the south side of WA
I recognised that angular building, it's a new theatre centre that was built recently

Pleasure!
I must go down there again while i'm here. I remember my last visit contained lots of bandicoots, misty rainforests and tremendous peaceful nature.

albany is also older than perth, so you wonder why there is such a big population difference between the two

Albany's harbour isn't as sheltered as Fremantle Harbour? I don't know. I do know it's very hard to control sailing ships.

yeah but there is a pretty massive numerical gulf between 30,000 people compared to 1.5 million people

^
yes, but a lots of those 1.5 million people are there to service each other.
That's what companies like Westfield and Lend Lease say when they decide to build 'a shopping complex'

Because Albany was only settled 2 years ahead of Perth as an NSW outpost, then later on handed over the the Swan River colony settlement, which was founded by Capt. Stirling, who founded Perth as the centre of the colony and where most if not all the colonists arrived from England, not Albany. Also, as soon as Fremantle Harbour was re-constructed to be our main port in the 1890s, and has been ever since, you'd imagine that's why most people went to Perth/Fremantle

Hot is awesome, I always laugh when in Sydney you get odd hot days of like 35+ and they are all complaining about the heat and I'm just like mah that's almost a cooler day in summer, where we get consecutive days of 40+ as well as it still being in the 30s as late as 10pm at night...

The last time I was in Albany, I was 5 and had to go to hospital there coz I got pneumonia.
Margaret River is still the best place in the SW if you ask me...

You should go to some of the pride events then, there's heaps of stuff happening at the Court n dirty Connies, plus there's always movie nights and stuff. It's a pity you missed out on Fair Day, it's a good day to sign up to social activities and is much easier to converse with people!!
I dunno, it's kinda hard to recommend stuff coz I don't know what you like doing, and I'm not really all knowledgeable about stuff to do and meet people in Perth....

thats what i love about perth in summer, especially in jan and feb - every day is a carbon copy of the next. you can bank on it and set your watch to it. love constant dry heat

i dunno, shark attacks dont sound much fun either.
barnett is talking about allowing fishermen to catch more sharks to try and put a dent in their numbers in the WA coast vicinity. as someone who uses the ocean regularly (yes, this is horrendously un-PC), i think the less sharks, the better

pfft, more people die from mosquitoes and starvation than sharks. Leave the sharks alone.

Ugh, not this shark argument again, I've had it so many times already.
Iratei, the court is having another traffic light party, that could be a good way to meet people, or im not sure if they still do it but The Queens did do bingay every wednesday could be another good way.... There has to be some just gay social groups in Perth out there, I've never really looked for them....

I pick up the print copy of outinperth when I can. It has a big section of groups in the classifieds. Was thinking about joining the gay choir
