Hands up if you were lucky enough to be at V Festival last night to witness the Pet Shop Boys? I've seen a heap of shows in my time but the Pet Shop Boys were in a true league of their own.
Theatrical, polished and stunningly simply staging. What a show!

Yeah I enjoyed V Fest more than I thought I would (and I don't think a festival has ever had a gayer ending with an entire crowd singing "Go West.....)

Yeah it was a fun day/evening - much better than I expected. Other than PSB (of course!), my highlight was probably New York Dolls' version of Piece of My Heart. Ran into heaps of people, but lost them all b4 PSB - spent the entire set singing along and generally making a fool of myself with my new temporary best friends in the crowd :-) Can't wait for Friday now!
It looks like they had a few technical problems - they covered well! This is from petshopboys.co.uk:
Interesting show at the V Festival in Sydney last night. Our computers crashed at the end of "Integral" and the power for the lighting and video went down twice! That kept us on our toes. The fantastic audience made up for it though and made us feel really welcome. Unfortunately the shiny Dior tailcoat I wear at the end of the show went missing backstage. Seems like someone to a fancy to it... Or maybe it'll turn up. Off to Brisbane. Neil x

Really enjoyed Pet Shop Boys and Groove Armada - unfortunately that was about it for me @ V, the lines for bars at the beginning were totally unacceptable. Thank christ as the day went on I managed to get my hands on same vip wristbands so managed to save some time on the lines.
However, there is no wrist band to stop pushy straight girls. I have never been to an event where there were so many girls wearing over-sized sunglasses and very little else, who think its their right to push through the crowd with out even a "excuse me", or " sorry" or anything, just a shove.
It got so bad at one point that both Graham and I told two girls off, and lets just say we were not so nice about it - there response back was even worse which then got Graham so pissed off that he responded back with, "just fuc# off slags", then it was on.... eekk.. !

Pet Shop Boys were just amazing. Absolutely loved the performance and the high camp of it all. Especially seeing all these straight people with their hands in the air singing along to 'Go West'. Really looking forward to the full show on Friday night.
Also really enjoyed Jarvis Cocker. The c**ts really are still running the world!
A great festival I thought. Much better crowd than future music. Some real nobs ofcourse but no way as many as other festivals. I think this attracted a slightly older crowd. Bar lines were big in the afternoon but nice touch having Coopers instead of the usual VB rubbish.
I hope they run this again next year.

So did anyone go on Friday night? Great show and they seemed to have less tech problems this time although for some reason I felt the atmosphere was dead compared to the V Festival. I was quite surprised at how quiet the crowd was considering I would say it was largely gay.

some friends and I went on Friday night and were also surprised how "quiet" the crowd were compared to V. Perhaps it had something to do with the crowd being a little older compared to V? That said my friends and I certainly made up for it with a fair amount of excitable screaming and cheering - expecially when they played "its a sin" - WOW! :D

Um here's a clue why it was so quiet... it wasn't anywhere close to selling out and there were alot of people there on free tickets (me and a dozen friends included).

I think the crowd on Friday was more mature. Which is what I expected. There was still applause etc after every song, during there was respectful silence, though I was singing along! ;-) It was a fabulous concert nonetheless! :-)

Maybe it wasn't very good. I was right up the front against the barricades and during their big hits was having a great time. BUT! When they playd some of their more obscure stuff or boring stuff, well, it was kind of boring. I was overjoyed to hear the shortened version of Se A Vida E which is my all time PSB fave. They did sound fantastic but I also think the staging let them down. We'd been promised a technical, multimedia extravagnaza but didn't really get that which was a shame. They don't do enough on stage to raise the excitement levels without it.
