Welcome guys and gals into the GLBT Advertising and Marketing group!
I'm Robbie, advertising and sales account manager here at Same Same, for a little over a year now. Obviously I love my job, I work in the land of digital marketing and get to talk G.A.Y to ad agencies and stand alone clients all week.
I used to work as an online marketing and sponsorship manager for a software company until I hunted this job down in the site's very early days. :)
It's not always a cruisy camp picnic - there are plenty of conservative brands out there that are not quite ready to take the jump into online, let along a gay online audience! It can be frustrating but I like tackling homophobia and I do like to talking about the benefits of targeting a gay audience - especially the Same Same audience. The team here come up with some cool ideas to get the Same Same audience excited and interacting with suitable brands - Virgin Blue's Mardi Gras comp, MBF's Gayest Holiday competition, V Club's special offer for members and we have a few more top ideas on the cards for the coming months.
I guess I've started this group to talk to other like minded GLBT advertisers and marketers, network and learn what you guys and gals do in the space.
What do you think of brands that directly target our community?
Do you see them in a better light or are you suspicious that they're not really supporting the community, rather simply chasing the pink dollar?
How about we start with a little intro of who you are, what you do, what questions you need answering!
Looking forward to some constructive chats! :)
