Was that meant to be a joke? See, it wasn't funny, so I'm confused.
Was it bitchy? Did menopause make you bitter?

Irene
24th January 2012, 10:19 AM
The T bit referred to the fact that the graffiti artist can't even include the letter in the country they live in

Some people look to take offence at anything.

Irene

How was I offensive?

More clone wars? LOL Who am I a clone of?

I posted this in the similar Ladies' Lounge thread too...

It would be great if this thread didn't turn into a battle. Although I also love the genderbomb graphic!

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/403735_2862925084585_1003456955_32667853_112248158 6_n.jpg

We're keen to make a separate forum section for gender diverse people if there is demand for it. At the moment there don't seem to be many people who actually want it but I'm happy to be proven wrong (post below and let me know). I'd love some more suggestions of what to call it. 'Gender and beyond' seems like a good one, it does remind me of 'Bed Bath and Beyond' though!

datkindagal, would you actually use the new section? I suspect you'd post a few times in it, get bored, then head back to Chat and Gossip, since your motivation seems to be to generously educate all of us on trans issues. xxx

I try to look at things impartially, with a logical and level head, rather than emotion.
I was going to offer to prood read things for you so that you don't put things in the public domain with spelling errors, but it seems you don't want that.

sabo much

I'm constantly surprised at how many people you manage to piss off. Perhaps you could lighten up and see that people aren't always out to get you.

You obviously know what 'sabo much' means! I'm still trying to decipher it.

HubbaHubba

it means sabotage. dumb young people's talk that cuts words in half as well as sentences. she's just being a cow, i wouldn't worry about her. i'm a stickler for good language (despite being young and "black"). I hate it when friends say bro all the time as if they are some gangster in the hood.

Hmm I still don't see much demand for it datty! I'm seeing you next week to discuss. I hope it does happen, the tech team can easily add it if they see some demand. I don't want to show them this thread as it wouldn't exactly convince them! xx

It's a pity a thread like this has been subjected to petty squabbles. I am an intersex person through having klinefelters syndrome. It would be good to be able to share experiences, discuss matters and have a bit of fun.

A forum like this for informed discussion on a wide range of topics effecting people who are Trans*, Intersex and Gender Diverse many of who are GLB as well is so important in addressing a range of phobias that are directed at us not only from some within the GLB but also the wider society. We are at a point in time similar to where the GLB community was 30 or more years ago when it started to confront Homophobia. Our journey has just begun and it would be awesome to see positive expressions of support and understand here.

Matt the NZ example is exactly what TMA and others seek to avoid. It is separatist and divisive and implies that unless you have had surgery and seek to live identified solely as a woman you are not truly transsexual. This is only going to ignite the old wars of the past based on the now discredited Harry Benjamin scale of transsexuality. Sorry not good.

I tend to get on OK with goof balls. Perhaps I'm more inclusive than you?

I knew some of them in NZ... perhaps different ones... and respected them a lot.

Anyway since your group undoubtedly has more than 12 members I will continue a dialogue and leave some 'batty' kiwis out of this.

I'm with dat. Build it and they will come. This place is stale and needs new ideas. This could be the beginning of something. Matt you should be leading the way. Not waiting for people to tell u what to do. Who cares if it doesn't get used, at least you tried.

Fuck the tech team. If it's so easy to add a new room, why would it bother them?

The name needs to be instantly recognisable as a trans space. 'Divercity' sitting among titles like 'Ladies Lounge' etc doesn't exactly tell you what it's about. Is 'Gender Divercity' better?

Gah... sorry to be flippant Indi and Jade. I do get where you're coming from. See you next week. xx <3

we love you, we do. We will love you more when you hear what we are saying

as posted by someone on Post-trans normality New Zealand and Australia

I am going to find a tender way to tell you why i am here. I am a transsexual first and foremost. I transitioned in the mid 90's and it was a rough journey. I have survived violence, horrible relationships, attempted suicide and sex work. I never gave up. I kept trying to make myself better, every little tiny step forward was a triumph for me. I ask you to look deep into your hearts and ask yourself why you are doing this and what will it accomplish? You need to understand that many of us never stopped being advocates or activists because our struggles are important and we wont leave any trans behind. Before you run the gauntlet and take the path of separatism remember that some trans people who might not be as trans as you helped fight this fight. Remember the hearts you break when you exclude your brothers and sisters who may or may not go on HRT or have expensive and extensive surgeries. Why can I say this, who am I? I have done these things but I will never throw my contemporaries and translings under the bus. This movement is mis guided and will only amount to more isolation and oppression. leave this folly, its been tried before. It will bring you nothing but supreme sadness. ♥

the seperatists have labelled us as the Trans Borg :)

I sent them a message from our community

We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your ships. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile.

This is a good post. Well I hope you're right. But we still need a good name for it! I was going to discuss it in person with Indi and the crew when I see them next week.

this implies inclusion of hetero and homosexuals.

JadeW
9th February 2012, 11:19 AM
wysi we hope that Genderversity becomes an inclusive space to allow a wide ranging discussions on the diversity of gender. Obviously we seek to focus from a perspective of being Trans*, Intersex or gender diverse but many of us are heterosexual or belong the LGB community.

So here we are, in the new GENDER DIVERSITY forum.

I moved this thread here, along with some other recent threads on Trans*, Intersex and Gender Diverse topics.

It will start to appear on the top dropdown menu on all our pages soon.

Also I'll have an update about our Same Same member male/female binary and how we're addressing it this afternoon or at the latest tomorrow morning.

Just a quick note - yesterday I briefed in to our tech team the Gender Diversity name and they went ahead with it... I see since then you're calling it Genderversity but I do think the two specific words are best and easily understood rather than creating a new word.

I might have a go at writing an 'introduction' post to keep stuck at the top of this Forum section... but if you want to write one instead, please do.

Matt xx

It signifies the variations of non-cis genders that aren't necessarily called "transgender". For example, bigender, agender, genderqueer etc etc etc.
