some really good news

The Swedish government has been made to back down on forced sterilisation for trans people. A sustained campaign both inside Sweden and internationally, has forced a largely unprincipled and very conservative government to change the law which required trans people to undergo sterilisation and destroy any frozen eggs or sperm before obtaining documentation in their new gender.
This shows what can be done with a well organised campaign and the solidarity of all trans people and their allies. International pressure and solidarity was cited specifically as one of the reasons the Swedish government has given in. Now we have 16 other countries in Europe to change, but hopefully the precedent set by Sweden will help move the others.
to those who signed the petition we have just fallen short of 80,000 signatures. Who said people power doesnt work. :D
