"You know I don't really identify as cis, and it makes me really marginalised." - Yep, I just found out last week during a conversation with a close friend that cisgender is offensive... especially when a transgender person uses it.

I accept she feels that way, and I'm going to avoid talking about anything gender related with her. Now I'm doing research on the concept of it being offensive because, honestly, unless you're extremely sensitive to the privilege connotations the word carries... the belief of if being offensive seems a bit selfish. I mean, transgender and cisgender don't leave any room for an alternative do they? I can't help to think that if people take issue with the word, it's likely because they feel that minorities shouldn't be using labels to define the majority, which they, themselves, don't actively use. I have a lot of opinions on this topic but they may not be considerate enough of people who are cisgender. I don't know... I'm still learning about this one.

well said, if its a majority dictating to a minority doesnt make it right otherwise cis queers wouldnt have any rights including "the right of reply".
