Hello! My Name is Rosie Gearside i'm a Year 12 Student on Sydney's Northern Beaches.
I'm conducting a Social Research project as part of my Society and Culture course, and i need the help of some people knowledgable with Gender Diverstiy or the LGBT community!
I have a MASSIVE interest in Gender Diversity and the changes that are occurring particularly in the Transgendered Community. My project is aiming to explore the term 'LGBT' and the idea that while being 'grouped together' there is some speculation that the 'T' in 'LGBT' has been left behind in terms of things like; general understanding and acceptance, support, activism and media representation.
What i would really like to know, is whether any of you people would be interested in answering some basic questions for me to help help me clarify my direction for my work and providing some insight into this world which i don't have any personal experience with (just alot of interest!)
my email address is rosie.gearside[at]gmail , i would love to conduct an email interview with any of you who would be able to share any experiences you have with the LGBT community (the questions are not about personal matters in any way, they are primarily about activism and media representation etc.)
PLEASE let me know if you have some interest in helping a struggling student out! Post your email if you don't mind me asking you some questions!
Here are some questions if you would like to just reply:
1. Do you know when T was added to LGBT group identity?
Why?
2. Do you believe that being grouped with LGB has helped or hindered the Transgender community? In what ways is this true/false?
3. What differences in difficulties face both these groups?
4. Has the gender diverse community been left behind from the LGB communities in terms of; understanding/acceptance, support, activism and media representation?
5. Can the transgendered community learn from the activism of LGB?
These are just some of the questions i would love to ask some of you if you are willing to give me some time!
Thankyou! :) :)
