I'm a transgender woman and a lesbian, I often have difficulty explaining this to women I meet, they usually go, so right, you used to be a guy right?, and now you are a woman, right? but you are into women, correct? So why didn't you just stay a guy if you are into women?
Just wondering how many transgender women are lesbians as compared to straight?
Just your own experiences and situations you know about.

I'm no expert on the matter by any means, but a friend of my sisters is a post-op MTF and identifies as a lesbian. It's a bit complicated though because i'm pretty sure she's asexual? She has pretty successfully made the transition and looks very much like your average girl next door, so she's been able to assimilate fairly well into the wider lesbian community down here.

Now that the psychs "allow" you to be a lesbian when transitioning, of the transwomen I know it seems there are just as many lesbian as straight with many identifying as pansexual or bi as well. Simoneybabe, tell them it's because your body was wrong, your mind is still the same. There is nothing on this earth like having sex in the body you always should have had. No natural, so normal. Unlike the shit that went on before......

yes simoney i get the same thing. i would not feel complete in my self if i did not have surgery. yes it is very hard to find women who will except you as a lesbian. its a shame as we are more caring towards a partner that other women are.

I think about half the trans women I know are lesbian. Never had issues with GG lesbians questioning me - they just seem to get it. Straight GGs have more difficulty understanding it generally.
