MADRID - Seven middle-aged Spanish mothers who posed for a tongue-in-cheek nude calendar - a fundraiser for their children's tiny, rural school - are now saddled with debt and 5,000 unwanted copies. (http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/articles/2008/04/17/1208025318229.html?s_rid=smh:top5)

OW!

Seven middle-aged Spanish mothers.... Rosa Garin, 36, one of the models in Serradilla del Arroyo, a village of 400 people in northern Salamanca province.

Middle-aged at 36! Where's my pension?

Ha, it shows you that it doesn't pay to recycle ideas!

5000 copies for a population base of 400 people? I think someone(s) was overestimating the appeal :(

There is a doco that screens every now and then on SBS or ABC about nude calendars......

Its an English show that looks at different group in society and the nude calendars they have made.....

For instance there was a group of male gardeners that sold heaps but the funniest was a group of "spinners" i.e. women who spun wool who made a fundraising nude calender who suffered the same plight as these ladies......The "spinners" calendar was not widely excepted because they showed nipple LOL and apparently that is off putting in a nude calendar.....good show though...

I found this link to a review of the show....

I really feel for these women! They strip down to help their small school and it blows up in their face!

I agree, I feel sorry for them!

But yeah, it's risky to recycle ideas like that. They could have had a B-plan and make fewer copies of those calendars, now they're stuck with that huge amount of nude photos of themselves and no one wants to buy them, that might lower their self-esteem, cause menopause or something.

Yeah ... poor girls ... i wish i could give them a hug! That would be devistating to their egos! and it was such an alteristic (okay it doesn't fully fit the definition) idea!

heheHeHE! Indeed!

Anyways, how about becoming volunteers to make a whole new nude calendar, just us healthy looking young boys? ehhehe! :P

Due to my height (1.67m), I could pose as a nude hobbit! eHhehe! Anyone else?

Hahaha - its the truth, besides it was something they clearly didn't think through. WHAT THE HECK happened to selling cakes at schools to raise money... I would die if my mum did this when I went to school...

Well, I couldn't see any photos of you, Mr. J, so I can't tell if you're being honest or just modest about yourself! eHEHhe! But 1.82m? That's a good height!

And I haven't seen the photos, so I can't say if what Jae81m said was accurate (though it was a bit funny). But if it was anything like that movie "The Calendar Girls", it shouldn't be that bad. Not that I fancied it (noting I'm a gay guy), but artistically it was cool.

OH, holly baby Jesus! I thought it would be nice, artistic, like "The Calendar Girls". I'm so sorry to say this, and by no means do I intend to offend anyone, but that just looks like "Merry Christmas, we had a bit too much to drink!".

Of course, who am I to judge and I'm no master in photography, but I think they could have been somewhat more creative, at least to me it looks like they're trying to look naughty... poor old ladies. If I were there, even though I'm no professional photographer, I would've given them some tips, at least I'm a bit of an artist (I make drawings).

I'm sorry, but I have to be honest, I did giggle a bit with what you said, Jae! That's what it looks like indeed.

I mean, come on, there's an artist, a gay man and a photographer in every single town, why didn't they ask for help with the calendar, they could have done such a beautiful work with a Christmas theme! Poor girls!
