Last night I went to see this movie Shortbus. The audience generally seemed to like it (there was a cringeworthy applause at the opening show). I thought it was the most original movie I've seen in a couple of years. The critics in the SMH have been lukewarm. Has anyone else seen it and has an opinion on it?

PS I didn't just like it just because of the gratuitous sex

I cannot remember a film in recent years that I've heard such good reviews for - everyone in the office here seems to be raving about it, and I just haven't had a chance to go see it yet. Am gagging to see it!

What was your fave part? (without giving too much away)

What I loved about the movie was that it wasn't really about the on screen sex. You soon got caught up in the stories of the individual characters. Just a really interesting film exploring the nature of relationships, sex and New York crazy folk in 2006.!

I saw it a couple of weeks ago and thought it was great! I liked the intertwined stories and the boys were cute! At one stage it started to sink into dreary woe is me'ism and I stopped feeling sorry for the characters and started just thinking they were sad and pathetic but then the blackout scene with Justin Bond (Kiki) singing, rescued it for me and I left the movie thinking overall, John Cameron mitchell had done a good job!! Would highly recommend it to anyone!

I saw it last night, and I actually wanna go see it again.

The sexual parts were done so well that it didn't feel 'dirty' at all, it was funny, clever, insightful and I'm still thinking about it this morning.

Highly recommended from me - maybe not a film you'd take your mum and dad to, but it's got all the makings of a wicked cult classic.

I saw it last night too. Where you at the Dendy Newtown Tim? ;-)

I thought it was great. It was funny, poignant, and sexy without being too gratuitous. The threesome with the guys was absolutely hilarious!

Most of the time I think we all take sex very seriously. It was refreshing to see sex and sexuality laughed at and enjoyed, as opposed to most depictions, porn especially.

Certainly next time I'll be requesting the national anthem, thats for sure! ;-)

One of the best lines in a movie ever ...

" You are sofar behind - You think you're coming FIRST !! ""

Love ie - love it - loved it !!

A MUST see !!

The other line I liked: "It's just like the 60's but with less hope."

Justin Bond - he is the guy who was Kiki in Kiki and Herb right? You know they played at the OPera House last Mardi Gras. Is that the same guy? Does anyone know?
