View Full Version : Things that piss me off
Ramrod

I don't want it to be said that I'm a whinger. God, no. However, there are things that I find annoying. Like when people refer to my "lifestyle choice". I didn't choose to be gay. A few years ago I would easily have chosen to be straight if I could. People have killed themselves rather than live with the fact that they're gay.
Oh, and while I'm at it, another thing that pisses me off is cyclists. Well, that's not entirely true. The cyclists that piss me off are the ones who insist on riding on the pavement and disobeying the road law. A couple of times recently I was nearly bowled over by a cyclist. One time I was passing a laundromat and a guy rode his bike out of the shop and nearly collected me on the way out. Another time I was about to cross a pedestrian crossing and a cyclist, oblivious to the rules of the road, rode over the crossing and nearly bowled me over. Fortunately she got off her bike a short distance from where I was so I was able to walk up to her and ask her if she had any idea what pedestrian crossings were for. She looked at me as though I was from a different planet, but then that might have been for other reasons. Still, I bet I made her think before she did it again.
A law was recently passed in Victoria that cyclists must obey the road law, just the same as other road users. This means riding on the road! I don't drive my car on the bloody pavement. Stopping when the lights are red and at pedestrian crossings! Signalling your intentions and, most of all, stop pissing me off!!!
And another thing...people who sneeze without covering their face annoy me. People who smoke without considering others. People who are drunk and think they're being witty and charming when all they're really doing is being offensive and breathing stale grog over me. People who put their feet up on the seat in a tram. Fair evaders. People who drive with one hand, chatting on their mobile. God, I could go on and on.
You may well have decided by now that I'm a grumpy old bastard. Well you'd be right and I don't care. I enjoy being gumpy so get used to it 'cos I'm gonna be posting more stuff in here. It's my therapy. If I annoy you, GOOD. Victor Meldrew is my hero. (If you don't know who he is, you can Google it.)

I dont think your a grumpy old bastard...You have stumbled onto a subject that we all share with the same degree of disdain...I believe I chose to 'accept' that which I cannot change , I did not choose to change who I am...A shame so many in society cannot accept it...Cyclists dont belong on footpaths FULLSTOP! If it's on wheels it has the same obligation as a vehicle...So Whinge away! I am with you...

I'm pretty much annoyed by these sort of things as well. You are quite right to complain - and we are so lucky that the Forums are such a great place to vent.

i hope you feel better after that Ramrod. I on the other hand try and not let these types of things get to me, getting grumpy and angry about these things only ages you. Let them go I say, but definitely speak out to such offenders if you have the opportunity to.

A great book for anyone who feels this way is:
"Is it just me or is everything shit?
Volume 1 or Volume 2
It's an encyclopedia of stuff that annoys people. It's written by 2 english guys so some of it relates to english stuff like politics etc but the rest is just universal
here's an excerpt on Al Gore and Inconvenient Truth:
......"Oddly, this coincides almost exactly - no, completely exactly - with the time he was vice-president of the God Bless the United States of A - in the Clinton Administration that did slightly less than fuck all about reducing America's gargantuan carbon footprint.
Shame he took this particular period off from the environmentalism. Because he might have proved quite useful then.
Crikey! These inconvenient truths, get everywhere, don't they?"

I dislike indian call centres too, people that don't respond to attempts at communication, fluoro clothing, emo pipe jeans, fat girls that wear revealing clothing, hospitality workers that don't smile, TV commericals with Peter Hellier in them, nightclubs that charge more than $4 for bottled water, nightclub security guards and door bitches that don't know who I am!

I too HATE:mad: SLOW PEOPLE. Especially in shops ... I know its not old peoples fault for being slow but do they have to be slow in front of me ... same with parents with strollers and kids that run around in any dirction and you almost step on them. Holiday seasons the worst the shops become overrun by slow people.
I don't mind bicycle riders as long as they show courtesy towards us pedestrians ... I use to ride a bike to school.
Lets see what else do I hate ... hmm dick heads, inconsiderate smokers, parents who can't control kids (see above), bogans (they just annoy me), angry bus drivers (the thorn in my side) and people who are ignorant.

4.The latest in cold calling from marketers,if you cant reach them on the phone, just knock on their doors at dinner time instead!
5. All those people who dont get up for the eldery or mothers on buses(especially those teenage kids)
6.all those door people who constantly must ask me or inform me, That the bar I am entering is apparently a gay venue! God forgive me!

Hmmm, what's pissing me off this week?
People who smoke in the street and blow foul cigarette smoke as they walk past you.
People in Martin Place asking for money whether it's homeless people, charity collectors or even those survey takers - working in MP, you get sick of having to say no to people every couple of minutes!
People on the bus who have really loud (and generally boring) conversations on their mobile phone... especially when it's a Shazza type!

This week the things that have pissed me off include:
People who get in relationships and then never see their friends anymore
Particulary when they use the term...."we"... and they have only been together a week
Mushy forwarded SMS
Elevator doors that close slowly
Washing up
Why is there is no keyboard shortcut for "Paste as unformatted text"
People who use laptops on the train - I mean, just how busy are you really?
