I read this interview with some interest. I like Peter Rauhofer's work, and really respect him as a DJ and producer (his first vinyl release album cover, it's worth tracking down for the quality talent that gone into the photo shoot). :p
But one of his comments gave me some food for thought:
“The gay crowd is way pickier than a straight crowd. They’re a lot more challenging to play to, but if they accept you then you know you’re doing something right.
Which set me off asking some questions:
Why is it that gay crowds are pickier than straight crowds?
Is this actually true? (From my experience straight rooms are easier to please...)
And is it because as a cultural set, do gay people only dance to a gay soundtrack, or is it something deeper than that?
