Interesting quote from Fear Factor about tonight's episode:

""Aaaugh!" says Mum. Amy clings tightly to her, mesmerised by the horrific scene. "Ewww!" says Samuel. Adam looks on in amazement: "He's XXXXXX up his own XXXXX!" "Woah," says Harry quietly, "I might have nightmares about that!" (he didn't - but parents beware, some kids might!)"

LOL!

Well it was a good episode, im just annoyed about the whole forced transformation into an Ood. Im a bit of a civil libertarian in the sense that no matter how evil you are you still have rights - and being forcibly turned into another species is a gigantic violation of your rights.

The Doctor seems to accept some violations too easily and was little concerned about this one. In some ways the Doctor is rather fascist.

I give the episode 6/10.

I love this episode! It was "brilliant". I don't usually get emotionally connected to thing but Dr Who is one of the main shows I really get connected with.
I am really anticipating the next episode! ;)

yeah not too bad; did remind me a lot of an old blakes 7 episode; but in a good way!!

It seems there is this pattern of social concience happening in this series, with the Dr having to make some big decisions! Song will be over soon? interesting there's lots of "prophecy" in this series everything seems to be portenting something. Second mention of the bees!

Going to be interesting with Martha next week.

I have to say I liked this episode, but not as much as Pompeii....it didn't seem to rollick along as that did...but I don't mind lulls between storms :)

I'll rewatch and review my thoughts :)

I really liked this episode! Poor ood! I always wondered why on earth they obeyed humans!!??

I really agreed with him being turned into an ood! He bloody deserved it! That chick got what she deserved as well!

I'm loving donna as the doctor's companion! I wonder how martha will take to her?!

I'm not likling that mention of the song ending! Things like that freak me out!!! THE DOCTOR'S SONG CAN NEVER END!!!!!!!!!

I enjoyed this ep! There's something about the Ood that I really like. I think it might be their manners (when they're not so crazy).

I wonder what the bees will all be about?? Didn't like the "song ending" thing either!

Best episode of the season so far. Catherine Tate has some really nice one liners that crack me up. I still miss Martha though so happy to see she is back next epis0de.

Love the new music too. Very cool.

I heard an interesting interpretation (or few) about the song ending. One was that the Ood seeing the Dr and Donna as one (DrDonna) that their song together will end...especially with that thing on her back! Another was that the Dr's song of loneliness will end as the last of the Time Lords maybe they are coming back? Or the song of the Time War that the Daleks may finally be vanquished which would end that song (because the persistent little metal buggers keep on popping up!)

Something to MUSE upon perhaps? :P

Oh and everyone join the new SciFi fans group too! :P

I hope that is the right intepretation Rat! They wouldn't think of cancelling the doctor!!!!!

oh god no....it's too popular....over in the UK they actually incorporated the season final into their equivalent of Mardi Gras:

"+ GRIPPING FINALE OF DOCTOR WHO CLOSES PRIDE SHOW IN TRAFALGAR SQUARE
Torn between loyalty to Pride but dont want to miss Doctor Who?

The Pride London team and the Doctor Who producers have solved this dilemma by announcing that the last gripping episode in the current series will be shown on the big daylight screen in Trafalgar Square at 7.10pm on Pride Day, Saturday 30 June."
- reproduced from www.pridelondon.org

it's huge over there (and everywhere we hope ;) so no chance of cancelling....besides there are a number of specials planned for next year which will have David Tennant still starring and then a full season again in 201o.

There's still some life in the old Doc yet. (well 900 years is pretty old you have to admit)

The seems to be rumours out there (well doctor who facebook group anyway) that RTD is going to make Davros gay in this series finale.

http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=6189611940&topic=4298

I don't think it will happen as he stated once in an interview that he wants to keep Doctor Who family based and make Torchwood slightly more adult. Another reason why the Doctor will never appear in Torchwood.

Anyway worth a read on facebook if you have a mome.

I dont think there's much left of Davros to be anything. Though RTD may restore him to his original hideous form...

How do you get a lisp across when your voice is processed by a vocoder anyway?! ;)

waterrat
22nd April 2008, 04:58 PM
it is widely reported of the "RTD gay agenda" so could very well be the case! lol ewww...imagine him coming on to you and trying to talk sexy in that Dalek voice...yummy :P

Even at his "fittest" the only thing that Davros could move was his wrinkly old hand... eep!

I really like these interpretations. I feel like I'm going to burst with anticipation and excitement! Oh, my love of Dr Who is again rivalling my love for Star Wars! (and thats saying something ;) ) I have this emotional attachment to Dr Who that I don't have with pretty much anything else... I want Dr Who season 4 box set in my room now (and a weekend to devote it to...;) )

I have to say one of my favourite lines from the new Doc is the opening of season two when Cassandra's psyche was inhabiting everyone, and the first time she popped into the Dr.

"Ooh he's slim...and just a little bit foxy" cracks me up!

So if you murdered a heterosexual, it would then be justice to forcibly transform you into a heterosexual??

Whatever happened to not practicing cruel and unusual punishment?

This episode is sending the wrong moral messages, and I have found the Doctor of late being terribly biased and very selective in who he sees as 'the good guys'.

The Ood quite clearly are the bad guys as well.

Maybe if they turned Hitler into a Jew....I think we would have an indication of the scale that the episode hinted at....I wouldn't see a great harm in that. When you are talking on the scale of millions....wouldn't someone who knowingly thrust an existence like that onto that number of people have some sort of accountability....I mean here they would just do a Saddam on them and hang them....don't you think this is a little more poetic?

just my $0.02

I thought this was one of the worst episodes since the series returned.

The ONLY saving grace for me was Catherine Tate. She's turning into one of the best companions ever.

This weeks episode looks brilliant!

I was hoping she would be great...so many people were dreading her arrival though, but she seems to be converting even the most hardened heart, she's had a lot of moral dilemmas to humanise her though. But isn't that what we want? A companion who hasn't become jaded by what they see and experience...someone who looks at it from the point of view that "home is so far away, and the universe isn't all "we come in peace" and "this is all a bit much I don't want to play anymore" a certain vulnerability has helped her too I think.

I just want to know what's on her bloody back! I bet she ends up being the Dr's granddaughter or another Time Lord using the chameleon gate hahah can you imagine her in a TARDIS? help us!

I completely disagree. Even Hitler would of been legally entitled to a fair trial. Scale is irrelevant, all that matters is the due process of the law and therefore justice.

waterrat
22nd April 2008, 10:11 PM
be careful...law and justice in the same sentence is a dangerous combination :P

the law is an ass

nonetheless I think this series is doing a lot more of moral highground kind of stuff...Actually I saw in another forum about this episode someone berating the Dr because all he did was stand by and let everything happen, he didn't really DO anything and that is true.

I wonder what great ethical challenge he'll be confronted with this week!!! **excitement**

Ok so far this season we have had:

Missing Planets
Rose popping up in london then fading away
She is Returning
Something on your back
Ending of a song
and lots of references to missing bees!!!!

we "know" that the Big Bad this series is Davros and we do know that all 3 companions from the past few series and Captain jack will be back for the big finale, we also "know" that it starts with the Non Dr episode towards the end of the series and will feature, rose, donna and martha but no dr!!!

IMHO I think we should love Donna while we can, we know that she's doing 1 series but I think she will meet a sticky end come the final credits,
Dr who is all about life and death and choices and I think it's time that someone we know and love will croak it.
I'm hoping it's not Martha as I think she will be heading over to TWood as their new medic and maybe it is Rose but she's already "died" once.
I think Donna's days are numbered and that the reason we're loving her is because they wants us so it will make it all that much worse.

Thats all just my opinion....check back in 3 months and we'll see if it's true lol

Nice way to spoil the series.

Not everyone "knows" all these things and some of us didn't want to know.

Surely it's not too much to ask that if your post contains spoilers that you say so at the beginning!
