ARE THERE ANY QUEENSLAND SPECIFIC NAMES FOR GAY VENUES AND DESTINATIONS?
Howdy, I am a gay social historian and writer. I am currently completing a book on the history of bawdy songs in Australia - bush recitations, rugby songs, city ditties, kid's chants etc and I want to see if there have been any gay or lesbian etc ditties. Possibly some from the early days of struggle? What about parodies sung by drag queens (I have one on I Will Survive - natch) but I know there's lots more out there.... somewhere. Some of these songs are only four liners and others complete songs.... most are really sexist and filthy - and that's exactly what I am looking for, mostly anonymous........ I am telling the story about how these songs were used over the years.
I am also after 'gay descriptives' like 'The Golden Mile' for Oxford Street, 'Hanging Gardens of Fabulon' for the large building near Trumper Park. All States and towns please.
