Hey guys, this is a long shot, but........i was wondering if anyone is from or has knowledge of the US insofar as I am probably moving to New York (well West New York, which I am told is in New Jersey?) next year as my boyfriend's family live there and he wants to 'go back home' for a while. So, I am kinda in need of a job! What are the best employment web sites to check out (like we'v got seek.com, etc here in sydney - are there similar in NJ?). I have degrees in both education and social work, and lots of work experience in those areas. So if anyone knows the best places to check out, I'd be really really grateful. Cheers, Pete

Don't have an answer sorry. But on what basis are Australians allowed to work in the US if not through your existing employment?
Maybe there is a working holiday scheme for young people? Or can you pay for a working Visa?

I think there is a new Visa or changes to the H1B Visa, its specifically for Australians as a thank you for helping with the "war on terror". US based companies no longer have to prove that the Aussie applying for the job was better suited than any other US citizen... something like that.
Basically means if you can find a job in the USA its much easier for the US company to sponsor you.
I'm pretty sure a friend of our is moving to NY in the next month by this process

Look at Monster.com for jobs. You'll have better luck as an Aussie getting a job than if you are from a latin country. Right now imigration from latin american countries is a HOT topic. And New Jersey as some of the most lienient gay partnernership laws, so that's good for you.
Good Luck. I'm leaving two jobs in florida if you want those. :)
